Title: 1st obe thoughtful yet disturbing
Post by: c3pt0r on January 08, 2004, 18:38:31
This sounds intrested, i never lucid dreamed by myself before but it sounds intresting, this is what i think happened...

when you were trying to return to your body you might of been having seperate vibrations, or maybe it wasnt your body, but the one you see when it charges in the night,

the high pitched noises and whispering must of been you stuck between the physical and astral, but since you were lucid dreaming it was like you were stuck in the filter, and then your alarm awoke your physical and you were awake...

and to what i think it could of been an OBE or a lucid dream, maybe you were in a lucid dream but started to fall into a OBE and this is why you were stuck, your concentration was off, and since you couldnt think yourself back into your body cause you were stuck in the middle...

this is wat i think, please dont take this 100% true cause im still not an xpert on this, thx

Hey Sunnie,

I wouldn't say they are more difficult.....but they CAN be.  You see, usually when you go into an OBE from a dream, you slowly realize what's going on around you.  The realization sinks in that, YES, you are having an OBE!

However, because it was so seamlessly interwoven within a dream, it's just as easy to slip right back into the dream.

On the other hand, those of us who usually OBE from the bed and exit the body by rolling out, we tend to have a little more control in the beginining, with little doubts about the experience.

I do believe that there is an advantage to projecting from within a dream (which all that means is that you become AWARE that you're already out of your body while you are asleep)......You see, the advantage to becoming aware within a dream is that you are no longer thinking of your physical body.  You don't have to experience the vibrations, the heaviness, or any other inconvenience.  You're already out!

So the hard part is just maintaining your awareness and not slipping back into a dream state.  I find that STARING at something brings you more control and solidifies the experience.

Also, is sleep paralysis more common in the morning method?

From MY experience, sleep paralysis can happen anytime, but usually happens after a few hours of sleep.  It just so happens that most people experience this in the morning, when their mind snaps awake and their body is still sleeping.

You see naturally, our consciousness and our bodies awake at the same time.  However, in a lucid dream, or even a nightmare, our conscious mind is awakened BEFORE our bodies (either because we get excited or scared).  This snaps our minds to an awakened stare FIRST, before our bodies have a chance to catch up.  So we experience a paralysis episode.

Could this of been a lucid dream and not an OBE (I have never been lucid for more then a few seconds so I wouldn't know what one felt like)?

Sounded like an OBE to me.

Anything is possible.  To this day, I usually have trouble seeing right when I get out of my body.  It takes practice but eventually you get the hang of it.

thanks for the insights everyone
I think i have a better understanding of OBES and dream, i now know what it is like to carry your ego with you and be in control.

I will take Jeffs advice and focus my awarness more. I felt rushed during the experince because i didnt want to forget it (Robert Bruce always say keep it short at first)and i wanted to hurry back to my body. Next time im going to slow down and take a better look, stare at the kitten longer or something.

I would like some insight on this experience. (I will summarize on the bottom if you don't want to read it all).

I was doing some heavy dreaming this morning when my dog woke me up, as I fell back to sleep, I had a dream of being in my house when I looked through a door and saw the garage was filled with fishnets, I knew right then that I was in a dream and became fully lucid. After pattering around and playing with a kitten i found I decided to go back and tried to wiggle my real toes. I went back in expecting to awake but I was paralyzed and the vibrations and buzzing became very powerful. I couldn't get out of it. I couldnt wake up or leave my body and it was quite uncomfortable. I took the advice of a board member and grabbed hold of the side of my bed and heaved my self up and out. I then pattered around the house some more. The furniture was even more different but there were less dream elements. It was very bright like day. I was very excited and decided to experiment so I tried to force a finger through my kitchen wall but with no luck. I then jumped hoping to fly but only hoped a little off the ground. Finally I slammed myself against the floor, and felt quit a thump but I didn't go through. I then decided to return to my body. I felt for it and entered but was stuck again; it felt like I was jammed between it. I struggled to move my physical body and thought I succeeded when I rolled over but I was quickly slammed back in and realized that I hadn't physically moved at all. I struggled some more and started to panic because I couldn't awake. Everytime i moved i was forced back in place. What made it worse was the buzzing became very high pitched and intense and I started to hear voices whispering. This continued for about 5 minutes and thank goodness my alarm went off. The whole experience was very jarring.

Summary:

Became lucid during dream
returned to body but couldnt awake
traditionally re-exited body
Couldn't go through solid walls
There were some dream elements
When I looked out windows and doors it wasn't right
I couldn't get out of the vibration stage
I felt trapped to my body yet couldn't merge back in it

Here are my questions

Are Obes more difficult if you had just been in deep sleep a few moments before the actual experience? Also, is sleep paralysis more common in the morning method?

Could this of been a lucid dream and not an OBE (I have never been lucid for more then a few seconds so I wouldn't know what one felt like)?
