Metallic objects?

Hello!

I read somewhere that metallic objects could hinder someone attempting an astral projection, and I was only wondering on what facts this statement was based on, and whether or not it was true (seeing as though I will be stuck with braces for another year and a half).  

(I apologize if this question has already been asked; I tried searching it but I couldn't find anything...)

I believe that the more modern belief of this comes from something Robert Bruce mentioned in his Astral Dynamics book.
Where *HE* got the information, I know not.  Someone else could probably fill that part in.

I have read more than 15 book abouts OBE and never read anyone had any problems with metal objects.

The only hindrance I've come across is mentioned in one of R Monroe's books where he states that electrical fields may be of some hindrance. If this is due to belief or any real physical world facts I don't know. I think it has to be something like a charged Faraday's cage or similar to be a noticeable hindrance.

Eating a lot of food, filling your stomach with loads of proteins (increases physical awareness) will reduce your OBE ability, according to Bruce Moen in one of his books (the second book has an example of a woman stuffing herself with sausage to reduce interaction with the astral).

That probably has more to do with more of the body's focus being put into digestion, and the corresponding physical sensations, I would guess.

We're surrounded by metallic objects, including the wiring and pipes in your home. Going out into the woods isn't really an option for most.

Like everyone said, it's not a fact, many of us project with metal everywhere- but to answer the question as posted, I think the idea of metal affecting projection comes from the idea (not accurate, btw) that all metals have magnetic effects, therefore affecting emf, and that somehow our energy bodies are emf, therefore there 'must' be an effect.  Not accurate on many levels, because most of the premises are either incorrect and/or we just don't know enough of our energy bodies to know how (if anyway) they may be related or 'like' emf.
