I agree with you completely. I usually get better and stronger sensations if I rest for a day or something. I was just practicing for the second time today, and noticed a decrease in sensations, and "mental juice". When I first started, I was doing well because I set up a schedule to practice Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday every week. I figured it would give my mind time to rest and figure out what I am trying to do.
So to answer your question, yes, I think taking a break for a day or so in between practices is very helpful.

I think I agree with you, the first time I really tried to OBE, I got really strong sensations, And I had to "swim" out of it because I was scared and ever since then the sensations have gotten progessively lesser, which kinda sucks because I have tried everything - binaural beats, tensing exercises, triangle method, flowing energy - and I can't seem to get anywhere.

P.S - Any tips?

Power of suggestion is highly underestimated. You could try to alternate suggestions & silence combined with steady gazing (trataka).

Focusing on a clock to sustain mindblanks by the feedback of timing is proved to be a powerful method for me, especially if I periodically inject proper verbal affirmations into the silence. I can project ~5/4 times by this method without doing anything else.

Don't follow the second hand, just stare on the middle of the clock as you lay motionless on your bed. You should go up at least 3 minutes without internal speech to make your affirmations powerful enough.

Affirm yourself that part of your consciousess that never sleep will awake yourself at the right moment for separation. Pretend that your intent is understand and accepted.

Observe any abstract thought that may emerge from the silence, breaking down into your consciousness as groping responses for your intent. Be aware of them, grab them, echo them, and modify them for your purpose before "swallow" them into your groin area. The feedback of this "mystic rumification" let you to grow an unquestionable feeling of success.

Don't shut your eyes until you reach your level of challange (for example total 30 minutes practice with periods of 3 minutes silence) or get the firm belief on your success. It's more difficult to loose consciousness and fall asleep with open eyes, but this practice will not hinder you to get into a deep trance. The staring could make your body very sleepy in a special way seems to conductive for OBEs.

Although you could go through the solar plexus state and get imagery without closing your eyes, you may interrupt you gazing, close your eyes and do continue with your regular method.

Also with lot of practice is it possible to reach the state of RTZ by simultaneos activation of heart & brow regios. If you suceeded, you could see two little different versions of your room: the physical one with your physical eyes and the RTZ copy of the room with your F12 energy body. Close your physical eyes, before attempt the separation, otherweise you'll might be frightened making your next attempt more difficult.
