Every time I have managed to consciously enter the astral it has been the result of me falling asleep during an attempt at projection and then awaking up seemingly normally; however, being in the astral. I eventual gave up some time ago because 1.) the AP experience were sporadic and unpredictable 2.) I'd have false awakenings which only lead into dreams 3.) Because they weren't conscious projections, but rather flukes, I would get too excited and wake up.

So obviously something I've done is in some way effective. Now I'm taking a second go at it and hitting the same barricades.

The problem I'm having is that once I've relaxed my body my attention is drawn to the lungs. The inhale and exhale are the only feeling remaining. Once my attention is drawn to it I start taking in larger breathes. I also had another problem, while relaxing the jaw muscles, with saliva production increasing in my mouth causing me to constantly swallow or lie there with an uncomfortable puddle in my throat. I can typically stop the saliva, but the breathing is another story.

Those times that I am able to repeat a mudra in my head and I'm not thinking of the inhale or exhale... well, I can lie there for 2 minutes or 2 hours, but nothing happens. Not a vibration, not a feeling of heaviness, lightness, falling, dizziness - NOTHING.

I have woken up in what I believe to be a deep trance three times. It's a state in which your body is vibrating, sounds are heightened, and sounds echo around as if you are contained in a jar. Despite this it still felt like I was in the void of outer space. First time i though I was going to be able to consciously project. I slowly started to move and was over. All physical laws were in effect. Second time it happened I sat there vibration for like 10 minutes. I felt as if my body had floated out, but when I finally moved I wasn't floating. All physical laws were in effect. Third time I tried to "unlock" my chakra using a technique I'd read about, but the one in the pelvic region wouldn't let me lose.

This is very frustrating. I may have to just accept that not everyone can project consciously.

Any concentration tips would be appreciated.

Khah'peth: Hi there, welcome to the forums :)
I agree that AP is not for everyone, like all other things in the world: it's for the ones who want to succeed, that's it.

Man, do not give up. Continue practicing but instead of putting you focus on your breath or a mudra or anything, try doing a rundown so you won't fall asleep so easily. Another VERY GOOD thing that you can do, is -as TVOS always suggests- trying at different times or using the alarm clock technique (do a search in the forum, don't be lazy  ).

The major problem of this is that everyone reaches the goal using a different technique. I really don't think that words can describe everything about this. When you are there, feeling, you start "knowing" what to do no matter which technique you learnt or are practicing. The key here is to get into that "state" where you don't need a special technique anymore.

My suggestions ? : Monroe Wave I Track II ---> Intro to Focus 10. :) If you use that tape (or mp3 of course) for a few days along with Major Tom tips and Frank rundown .... you will start getting that "state" and maybe you will get a projection or maybe not, but you will start "knowing" when you are in the correct path or not...
Trying to reach Focus10 instead of projecting is a much better goal because you know if you are doing it well or not....
And the good thing is, once you reach Focus10, everything else seems to be easier ...

Good Luck my friend, and don't give up !!!!!!!!
