Title: A Simple RTZ Technique
Post by: The Present Moment on March 01, 2006, 11:36:19
This post (http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=52088#52088) in the Permanent Topics section contained a great tip that got me into a pre-OBE state for the first time. I'm confident that I would have had an OBE had I not gotten so excited.

Before going to bed I did some affirmations and thought about a few of Monroe's stories to get myself into a positive mindset. I lay on my back without relaxing or going into trance, or doing anything really unique besides falling asleep. In order to avoid entering into a dream, I observed the hypnogogic state and the way I was feeling, being careful not to fully wakeup or fall asleep. After the images stopped, vibrations started in my legs and quickly spread through my body; a minute or two later my whole body was rumbling, and a huge amount of energy was building in my crown center.

I hadn't felt strong vibrations before, they really caught me off guard.   It reminded me of the movie Contact (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118884/), where the main character, Ellie, travels in a small pod through a dimensional portal. There are vibrations during the first minute of the journey that eventually cause the chair Ellie is sitting in to break loose from the pod, and she then unbuckles her restraints and floats through the air. It couldn't be any more perfect an analogy for OBEs.

One variable which may have helped this technique was a lack of sleep the previous night. I have no idea whether it will work consistently.

Hello the present moment,

I know i am being a real moran with this but you were wrong with that movie, the chair in the movie broke AFTER ellie unbuckled herself to inspect something at the window, and in your scenario she would have been killed and that's not what daddy would have wanted.

But i am really sorry for being so darn lame, but i could'nt help it.

bye

No problem, it's been a while since I saw the movie. I think the analogy still applies, regardless of whether the chair broke off.

OK first off. I totally forgot about that triangle method. I read it a long time ago, as in before I was a member of this forum. About a week ago I was trying to explain to someone my method of focusing inwards. The best way I could describe it as was by focusing your attention on the ringing noise as well as the blackness behind your eyes. Eventually, at least for me, there would be this shift, like suddenly the blackness became more... prominent and I was less aware of my physical environment. Had I known, or remembered, about that triangle method... well it just would've been much easier. Then all I'd have to do was give the the link. Thanks for bringing that up!!  (although... i think the triangle method may be a little different as far as terms go)

Just like you, there are times when I like to get in the right state of mind before practicing. So I'll do some affirmations here and there and even some reading to..."get the sparks flying". (lol that was so cheesy) Kind of funny (and cool) to see others start their...sessions the same way.
And yes, sometimes those vibrations can be a bit startling.  :scared2:

Anyway, you should definitely try the method a couple more times to see if it is indeed the cause of your success. Good luck!!

I read the post he was talking about, but I still don't understand...what is the triangle method?

Leilah:

The only part of his technique that I used was avoiding being pulled into the hypnogogic images. The ringing noise doesn't happen for me, or if it does tinnitus is masking it.

Read the beginning of that thread I linked to if you want all the info.

Very appropriate that comparison. When I had my first lucid dream I felt like falling from my bed down to the dream stratosphere and into the dream body. The only difference is that I felt no vibes, just heaps of felicity.

So as to say, it was as if I were in two places at the same time when the projection started. After the travel I felt again "one" into the dream.

About the vibes I read in this forum an interesting point. When the body is deep relaxed it gets to a point where it wants to confirm if you are really asleep. It's like a sensation of discomfort, quite unbearable, that forces yourself to change your body posture if you're awake. Of course, if you're asleep you feel but nothing and your brain can start to switch off certain bodily processes.

If you work out this ability and you are finally able to bear that discomfort moment, your brain, tricked, shuts down your body and you enter into a trance-like state, body asleep mind awake. That's the best context to separate your astral and to sense the vibes.

I reached this state by chance once. I felt asleep listening to one of those theta-wave like mp3 and it happened I woke up when the vibes were happening. I felt bloated and light, and my whole body was vibrating mucho. But the damn excitement spoiled it all... shame.

Another tip I've heard not to fall asleep rapidly is to lay down with one of your arms upright (better if it holds something, as a key ring) so you can wake up when it falls down.
