Negs can't hurt you, only scare you. They use fear to keep you from knowing how poerful you are out of body.
Do deep breaths when in paralysis to OBE.
There are many threads on this site where these two topics are discussed in more detail.
I've read about "negs" here a lot. Still not sure exactly what you guys are labeling as such...ghouls, disembodied negative spirits...not really sure what. I think you may be sometimes considering something a "neg" when one is being chemically triggered by hyperdimensional attacks. There's a thought. We all have strings.
But I'm not sure how speaking about negs informs me with anything useful with the abyss-OBE I've experienced.
(only replies that stick to my topic, please)
Thanks anyway cube.
Hi Blackbox [:D]
You mentioning suddenly having the urge to roll your eyes back, made me remember once I woke up having the same urge, a split second I might add, and did so. It resulted in me seeing my astral double walking out my bedroom door.. I can't say that it looked exactly like me, but I just felt it was.[^] Actually it was quite cool, I was all silvery..[8D]
This abyss you speak of sounds like a dark void I sometimes find myself in. I think it happens when I have no destination or intent in my mind. I've mentioned me bouncing off the ceiling in another thread...well, once I got through the ceiling, I just shot up into a dark tunnel/abyss thingy...lol..technical term.[:P] I had been thinking about going through the ceiling for a few days, so...I had nothing else on my mind. [:D]
Just my two cents.
Nay
Whatever you want to call the source of fear it doesn't really matter. I think almost everyone has scarey first experiences and they range from spooky figures to people grabbing them to feelings of being trapped in a cave to being in an abyss. My point is that they're all mostly the same thing, here on astral pulse they are known as 'negs'.

Hey Nay. That sums it up pretty well. I think "dark void" is a better way of describing it actually.
And I did have NO intent on my mind and since I'm very inexperienced with OBE's or projection, I had no apparent destination. I suddenly just pushed myself into the dark void. The only way to get out of it is to wake up, which takes a bit of time since I'm paralyzed for a bit.
I'm just so bored with everything right now. I just want to project myself, get myself into the realms where I can further progress instead of 'trying' and 'attempting'. I guess I'll just continue practicing OBE from the trance-state I get into. I really have a tough time resisting the 'swallowing' urge that comes. It feels like a build-up of mucus/saliva that makes it unbearable to NOT swallow. A friend of mine said that this is because I am putting awareness there...maybe I can find a technique to keep my mind completely off the sensitivity of my throat. It could be the effect of the mouth-wash I use at night for all I know, hehe.
The rolling the eyes back during trance state also helps to focus all of my awareness away from the body...
Anyways, any tips or whatever would be great. And do you think I can transition from the void to something else? I only ask because it seems to be the only supernatural occurence I have experienced in my life.
I too had the problem with the swallowing urge..lol..go figure.[:P]
That, in my experience is just something that passes with time, or brushing your teeth helps to get all of that googie (another technical term) stuff out of your mouth that cause salvia. [^]
And trust me, even if you do swallow, NO BIG DEAL..[:D] That is a very natural instinct of your physical and it shouldn't take away from any meditation that you have going on. Just gently swallow, and go on about your business.

Then stop thinking about going into other 'realms'..contend yourself with your bedroom..[^] You might be thinking..too far ahead..baby steps are a good thing sometimes..[;)]
Nay
Hehe so true! It's funny that I give similar advice for other types of techniques (mind-acceleration) yet when it comes to something that "I" am attempting to learn, I revert back to a child that a Zen Monk would grump-slap.
Thanks. My thing for the next few nights will be to play around with the 'moving around the room' and a 'swimming technique' that was given by another.
And you're right, I'm probably putting way too much emphasis on worrying about swallowing instead of allowing it to occur naturally. Oh, and I DO brush my teeth -- what are you trying to insinuate!?! [:D]
Namaste.

From the initial post, how did you infer 'negs'? This is a significant question for me so I'd appreciate a thoughtful reply [:)]

I have never AP'd, or had a clear-cut case of an OBE.
However I have had two experiences of something different:
Both cases occured in the middle of the night. I remember being somewhat conscious in perhaps a theta-state. Suddenly I had the urge to roll my eyes back like lightning (or perhaps it wasn't my eyes but the sudden urge of shocking myself) and I was suddenly floating through an abyss of darkness. It felt, dare I say, just as real if not more real than actual life. It was like falling down through an abyss yet the direction wasn't necessarily DOWN like gravity would usually portray. It was like being pulled around through dark-matter. In both cases I'm in paralysis which was scary (being my first time).
In the second occurence, there was a more subtle transition into the abyss and this time I wasn't being pulled around. I think this is because the 'being pulled' is from my resistance or fear or whatever I was projecting that went against the grain of the state, so to speak.
Any comments would be appreciated.
Namaste.
