Hi All,

Im relatively new to OOBE's etc but ive had a comparatively successful beginning, managing 3 OOBE's in less than 2 weeks since I started trying.  However all successes have happened when following the Vehram method (waking up then immediately inducing an OBE). The problem with this is that i cant replicate this whenever I want (at the moment).

I have read the info on Franks phasing method and I know I can do this because I get the same visuals when closing my eyes.  I can get these visuals within 15-20 minutes anytime I want.  My HUGE problem though, is when I start getting the visuals, I notice myself getting them and I quickly get snapped back to full consciousness.  I cannot maintain concentration enough to see them through.

I can also normally get to the point of mild vibrations when relaxing but again, my concentration gets a slap in the face and I again get shook back to full consciousness.

I know I need to become more passive etc with regards to the experience, but how??  Just now, I have tried for around 1 hour and every time the visuals or vibrations appear the same thing happens.  I even tell myself to prepare and relax for the next time but again, I snap back to full waking consciousness.  Its getting a bit frustrating.  I feel I am on the edge of managing to phase but I cannot keep my concentration (or I guess lack of it) focussed.

Can anyone offer any advice on maintaining the visuals without jerking back to normal?

I'm at that exact stage as well...
I'm going under the assumption that it's exactly what Frank said, practice practice practice.  :)
You've got to relax the eyes AND feel the "shift" enough times that you realize it and begin to notice it.

At least, that's what I'm working towards.
So far I'm beginning to notice WHEN the "shifts" happen, and I'm able to keep my physical eyes out of the equation for a second or two.  But it's slow going.  LoL

Practice, practice, and more practice. You understand that the visuals are normal, but your protective sense of awareness doesn't know that, so it snaps you awake to "protect" you. You can teach it that it is normal by putting yourself in that situation over and over again.

Dear AstralBeginnings,

perhaps deepening trance may help.

Have you ever shifted your focus to sound? In my experience from everything, sound entrances the mind fastest. It doesn't have to be hemi sync, it can be anything, even silence. If one has tinnitus, he can use that to his advantage. The observative attitude is the importance because it silences the ego which is the human mind.

I would personally recommend focusing on sound first and when one is ready shifting focus to the mental screen (try to look through closed eyes) - visualize an object above to pull you out - exit from the forehead into the Zone.

You don't learn this like an instrument - you have instant projections once you hit just the right state of mind either by accidant or change in attitude.

In my opinion, Robert Peterson in his book "OBE's: how to have them and what to expect" describes this state of mind best.

kind regards,

Thanks Guys, I certainly will keep practicing and I will also try the sound thing out too.
