I was laying on my couch taking a nap, and I was drifting off to sleep.
I had a feeling that I was awake but asleep at the same time.
I rose up a bit, but I felt like I had a connection with something, something kept pulling on my spine, and it felt scary.
I pushed my hands in the air, and felt a swishing noise in my head, pulsing and swoshing, SWOSSSHHHH! And wild whistles.
This scared me, and I began freaking out, I rose from the couch, and I could see hands, and another duplicate set under the ones I were controlling, I couldn't look back, I was too scared.  Then I remember not being able to move, and I couldn't see anything.
I'm scared, can anyone tell me what happened?
:?

Thank you..

From what I have read over the years, this is normal but it doesn't occur all of the time. You will read alot about paralysis, sounds, and pulsing in other peoples OBE experiences.

DerekG,

You were attacked by a demon. :) Just Kidding..

Next time this happens just calmly observe what's happening. based on everything I have read and everyone I have talked to about the subject, it's very unlikely that anything will harm you while you are int his state.

When I had sleep paralysis as a child I was terrified of it and struggled against it, always sensing a evil presence associated with it. When I began to research AP I realized that my mind was most likely creating the fear and the presence. Lately I have been able to use sleep paralysis to achieve several very interesting out of body states and found that if I didn't fight the experience I had more control and was able to move into my other bodies.

Think of it like chinese handcuffs and go with it instead of against it.

Basically, "normal" is whatever, in the wide spectrum of possibilities that can happen to you, happens to you.  :)

I agree with what others have said so far. This is all normal, and a part of it that you will just have to get used to.  I can say that after a lifetime of experiences, I wonder if anyone is ever totally used to it. Even now, there are times that an experience can start up for me and if I am not aware enough of the early signs, it can still scare the hell out of me.  And as you already know, it is the perceived "realness" of the experience that makes it so scary.  I was over the fear part of it back when I was a teenager. But one  of the last experiences I had really got to me.

DerekG,
Welcome to the "Early OoBE'rs Club"! Replete with all sorts of confusing auditory and visual phenomenae.
It's all quite REAL when you finally do it, and yet it presents twice the number of questions as it seems to immediately answer; and this takes the form of 'reality fluctuations': confusing visuals, references, noises and emotional discordance to deal with.

Don't sweat it, ask for 'clarity' now and then, and stay emotionally stable and calm...and have fun! EV
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

dbmathis,
Thank you so much for a great laugh, my face hurts now.

Onto the topic...

As said, this is normal.

Fear. It is only a feeling. You had an instigating thought, and instantly felt a fear response to it.

We don't like to feel fear, so we avoid it as much as possible. But it's only a feeling we are avoiding.

When we do what we feel fear about, when we feel it, it doesn't take long to pass through the feeling. And when you do, you know then how unimportant that Fear and it's feeling really were.

In your journeys you'll find many things which you will respond to in fear. That's normal too. If you look beyond the feeling, you will see what is really happening, there, and learn how to be a vigilant observer in any realm. The thing you were afraid of becomes a teaching experience. So even what's called negs, can be helping you to move past fears.

After all, fear is not real, it is only a symptom of thought.

I've never been frightened by what I've seen yet, I have had a couple of spirits catch me off guard, but I shrugged it off as a learning experience. I find that I am more just intrigued by all of this and I just keep trying.
