Some success with point-shift

I have similar sensations, but I get them from practicing N.E.W. through some of the areas to get a feel of my energy-body. Then when I try to pull up, I can sense the energy body is orienting itself with leaving my physical body, but I'm still working at it.

What is the point-shift technique?

Proved mentality for success.

I imagined that the physical body sent these very tight elastic cords around my double to lasso it back in, and I forced myself up and away from the physical body as much as possible, feeling my shoulders roll up and away, etc.
Basically, this is the Munchausen trick you could see in work in the Rope: imagining of making efforts against something trying to pull you back.

Search for the "lifeline" technique. I think the thing about time is an uniportant frippery in the technique, because its main effect is an etheric filament emanated from your solar pleuxus (like the silver cord). So, effort synchronised to breathing out is very important.

It's like the awareness hands in the Rope, identical with the secondary center of consciousness used in RB's NEW, with the differencies that you pretend yourself at that point (creating a primary c.c.). Also Rope is more effective, when you think about yourself becoming more and more elevated by every grip.

Point shifting works in my case as a statement of purpose. Due to deep silence I always lost my consciousness for at least a moment before etheric separation takes place.

Perhaps it's too late, but you should know, there is still a little possibility that you can escape from this whole OBE thing, jazz back and have a normal life. Otherwise you'll be hooked for ever.

Anyways, good luck and welcome in the forum!

(I always wish to say that...welcome in the forum...it's so cool...)

Thanks for the responses and the welcome.

Upstream, I wasn't able to find anything on the "lifeline" technique. Also, I've tried letting go of the whole OBE thing, and despite having little in the way of success so far, it is an obsession that isn't leaving me [:P]

Thanks!

After typing the word "lifeline" in the searh engine got this link:

But I can't OBE for you.

Good luck.

Basically its just visualizing your astral body away from your physical body. Ill attatch a file of Mr. Bruce's old treatise (version 1.1), it has the point shift thing in it. It also has (I think) more helpful things than his new treatise, but thats just me [:P].

Thanks for the help!

I'll check out the treatise... it will be nice to read some more RB material.

Also, I didn't think to search the forums for lifeline, I searched the Internet. Duh...

Thanks again!

Hello all!

I'm new to the forum, so, hello!

I've been interested in OBEs for some years now. My interest has come and go in cycles, due to lack of success, and I eventually discovered our friend Robert Bruce. I tried the rope technique and adjusted the motion to a point that I could feel some very noticeable pressure with each pull. One time, I had to stop my practice because of some very strong dizziness. So, rope has given me some pretty dramatic sensations.

After trying rope for awhile and not successfully inducing an OBE, I lost interest. But, my interest in OBE's just won't go away. A few years ago I got a copy of Astral Dynamics and I've read it a few times since. I've been referring to it during the past few days and practicing OBEs, and I feel that I am finally understanding the process and doing something right. I think I'm close.

For some reason, I can't seem to get the same sensations with rope as I used to. It's just not working for me. However, I've begun to use the point-shift technique with some success, switching rope in when I lose my focus of point-shift. This really helps! I don't get bored and sleepy, because I can focus on something, and if it doesn't work, I have another technique to use.

This morning I had what I consider to be my most exciting OBE attempt so far. I think the morning helped. Usually I practice at night, and I just didn't get tired and lose my focus. I used point-shift, and I felt some strong sensations. I tried to "feel" myself in my projectible double, and to rise away from my physical body. I imagined that the physical body sent these very tight elastic cords around my double to lasso it back in, and I forced myself up and away from the physical body as much as possible, feeling my shoulders roll up and away, etc. As I did this, every time the feeling was really "right", I felt as if there were a pressure building all over my entire body. When I lost my focus on point-shift, I tried rope for a minute, and when I lost my focus for that, I went back to point-shift. Every time I used point-shift, it was like the pressure built some more.

Does anyone else here use the point-shift technique? What kind of sensations do you have? Does anyone have any advice?

I just wanted to share my enthusiasm a bit. Thanks!
