I tried AP for my first time a few days ago, I got to the vibrational stage easily, and there was a bright light in the corner of my left eye, the light would grow brighter and I would focus on the ringing in my ears, I would start to hear popping and get very cold, but I couldn't get further than that, I stayed in that state for a few minutes before losing it. My other attempts ended with my biceps, thumbs, and wrists twitching to much for me to get to the vibrational stage.

So... Any idea?

I've never gotten very far, but I find that the few times I have gotten the vibrations that I got excited or panicked, and that caused me to go out of them. I think it is best, probably (I haven't yet achieved a full one  :-() to not dwell on it while it is happening, but stay aloof and away, like it just happens all the time, and let it take its course...

Makes sense to me, and when I get vibrations again I'll let you know!

DaMann

Ok, well I never sleep on my back so I figured I should try astrally projecting on my back, I got to the vibrational stages a few days, but then started falling asleep and having no dreams and waking up really tired... The whole week I was sleep deprived but I didn't figure it out till Thursday when I noticed my fingers shaking rapidly. Well that is kind of random though...

What I did do last night was put some big pillows up against the wall that my bed touches so I was in a reclined position sort of. I got to really intense vibrational stages for a few seconds, around 20 or so, I was completely not focusing, it felt like my body was splitting apart, I didn't feel anything but my head really. Then it just stopped, for no reason that I was aware of. Anybody have any ideas?

When are you attempting? The time of day affects your level of relaxation and amount of energy that you have quite a bit.

At night before I go to bed, I can never seem to relax that much during the day, or it will take me hours at least to do it.

Ok update on my attempts, last night I was laying down, pretty tired I had been running in athletics, I was definitely in an altered state of mind. Minor vibrations, I felt like I was falling, I was focusing on my breathing mostly, then my legs jumped into the air... I think, I am still not sure if this is true, if I was imagining this. Maybe my astral legs snapping back into my physical legs?

Any help or comments here?

Thank you!

This is my first post. Anyway, what I experienced is exactly like yours, except that I always do it after noon. I have did this 5 times, but all of it was a failure.

I used the triangle method and the breathing one, and then after around 30 minutes I will feel like falling down, and then a good feeling thing. I also think that I was imagining things because I felt my left arm falling down... I dont know what this is actually.

Sounds like you are making progress! Regarding the legs, that could be a few things. Maybe your astral legs really had separated without you realizing, or maybe it was just hypnagogic imagery. I've sworn that someone had literally kicked the bed while I was attempting AP, or yelled something like, "Hey!" Don't let that stuff distract you. You will learn to just ignore it.

Those types of things happened more to me back when I was attempting at night a bunch of years ago. Since I began attempting in the very early morning, after 5-6 hours of sleep, the "hallucinations" have been much more subtle.

Anyway, I would recommend you try in the morning if you can manage to do it with your schedule. I can only do this on the weekends due to work and other responsibilities, but my success rate is way higher when attempting at this time.

...ok, one last thing, when you say it may have just been your imagination, remember that imagination is one of the keys to lucid dreaming and astral projection. Don't be too dismissive of things that may have been your imagination. Look at imagination as one way of communicating with your subconscious self (for lack of a better term).

DaMann

Ok, so I took a nap, but the tv was on in my parents room, and I was too lazy to get up and turn it off, but I felt close again, even though slightly distracted. but I get to a stage where I really can't go any further, I don't feel my body except my head, everything is tingly, I imagine myself pulling out of my body, looking from a third person point of view, just something related to it, and for a second, I feel, well the best term to describe it is white, ridiculous vibrations, I am cold, there is a bright flashing in my eyes, but that lasts a few seconds, then I am back where I started. That was one long sentence! So any help?

Hi,
If you're experiencing strong vibrations which then subside, it's very likely that you have actually separated because the vibrations are caused by separation of the astral body. Very often you can feel completely awake after you have entered the astral. You may not feel any different (you'll still feel like you're lying awake in bed), and this may cause you to believe that you've failed. You will then just continue into a normal dream. This happened to me many times when I was first learning. The feeling of still being awake can be totally convincing, so it's really important to do a reality check once the vibrations subside. The only really reliable check at this point is to pinch your nose shut and see if you can still breathe through it. If you can breathe through your closed nose then you must be out of body.
I'd recommend that you always do this check after experiencing vibrations. If you make it a regular part of your routine, you can never be fooled that you are still awake. Of course it may be that you have simply woken up, but why not be sure? Many people are actually projecting and not realising it, simply because they don't do a reality check and they miss their opportunity.
If you do this check and realise that you have separated, the easiest way to get moving is roll to your side and stand up. What you do then is entirely up to you....

DaMann

So will it feel physical all, because if I project and it feels the same, then one would think the astral planes might feel the same, but I guess you can control if you feel stuff or not?

-DaMann

Mister Astral

Perhaps you should just lay on your side like you normally do.

That's how I achieved my first projection yesterday, I just rolled onto my back when I felt the vibrations and then went from there...

...So I think it helps if your body is already relaxed just before you feel the vibrations.

Hi,
just to add a little to my previous post, the astral usually only feels like being awake until you realise that you have projected (by doing a reality check for instance). Once you realise that your projection has been successful, you can get up and move around and then it feels very different from the physical. You'll feel like you're in a waking dream and will probably see your room much as you do in the physical, but there may well be differences like a door where there shouldn't be a door or different furniture. But the point is, don't let that short period of feeling awake after vibrations fool you into believing that you haven't projected. It causes many people to miss their chance, and a simple check can prevent that.

Cheers.

Keitake

I don't know... But everytime I feel the vibrations i will feel excited and then it went away. I still can't see anything but I was just imagining my room. It always took me around 20 minutes to get that feelings which is sad...

Keitake,
Try the reality check. The vibrations always go away pretty quickly. That's normal.

Keitake

Yesterday night, I tried to AP again and get the drowsy feeling and then I gave up because it stopped on that state. Anyway, can having problems with sleeping affect my AP. What I'm trying to say is, it always takes me around 1 hour to sleep. So, can this be a problem for me? Maybe like... it will also takes me around 1 hour to get to the mind awake/body asleep state?

-Keitake

Its not hard for me to fall asleep but its hard for me to reach the mind awake / body asleep state. Set your alarm 3-4 hours before you usually wake up, do something for about 10 minutes, get back to bed and its easier to get to the mind awake / body asleep state.
