if you only see them after nightmares... did you ever have any experience with spiders, or seen something about spiders that would stay in your mind?

SomeBloke

No I don't only see them after bad dream experiences, but there seems to be a relation.  They don't bother me at all but it's the only experience
I've had of a visual hallucination I've had and it only happens in that brief interval after waking up from sleep.
I did have an experience with a spider as a kid, where I was bitten!  I don't think this is related as there is no fear or discomfort associated.
I asked the question because in his book Robert Bruce describes lower order 'astral wildlife' as having an 'insect-like' nature. Although they often follow dreams where 'negative characters' exhibit higher-order intelligence.

Well, if you wake up from good dreams and never see these things, but you always see them when you wake up for bad dreams, I'd say you should empoy some self defense and see if it stops the bad dreams.

If it does, you know what was causing them.
I need a signature that isn't stupid. :/

hi some bloke ..
your post semms real for sure yeah i would go on to say in relation to be bitten by a spider and now they appear to manifest in a bad dream is greatly related ,because you might not realise it but you have an in greated fear of spiders the dream in it'self does not simbolise mutch if you are psychic in any way this could mean one thing only. You will experience some difficulty or maby some problems which you will over come very easily which is the comming and going of the spiders, you could be prepared and forewarned and when it comes you will overcome easily.

I have had at least several visits by large black spiders hanging from the ceiling over myself or my wife. I reached my hand up and sent them away energetically (like the force by Jedi in star wars I guess). I never have had a fear of spiders nor did I in the experiences, buy did not want them hanging around either. It is a psychic vision at the in between wake and sleep state where I can be very open visually to anything going on in my room. I know they were not created out of fear. I am not sure what they were up to. Maybe sucking energy off our energy body is my best guess. I sent them away a few times, but my visions have not been as active lately.

I've heards lots about these astral spiders, and i think they could be negative energies beings, interpreted by your subconsious as spiders because they cling to us, feeding of our negative emotions...i once, after being attuned to Reiki, had a sudden healing in my flat....3 beings of light [ i know how chessy that sounds...but bonk man thats what they were] came into the room and rebalanced me inside myself...after the healing i saw a spider like the ones described here try to come in through my ceiling...but it was stuck fast by something [ the healing i presume] and couldn't get at me...i sort of faded away...but yeah...i don't think they are to be encouraged...parasites if you ask me.

LeCosmic - I like your quote cos I've just finished a Richard Bach Book called 'Illusions' that was really good!
RE: The spiders, if you study them very closely their real appearance is not of a spider, I think that is just the way your brain interprets it at first glance.  When studied closely, they look like spinning balls of black cotton.  Some people would call these hypnagogic hallucinations (things you see as you are at the border between being awake and asleep).  Other people such as RB call them astral wildlife perceived when awake by means of persistence of astral sight after a projection (perhaps an unconscious while you were dreaming.)

I am curious that the 'bad dreams' that preceed this have (neg) human characters in them and I sometimes wonder whether these spidery things actually were the characters in the dreams :)

Hiya SB,

That sounds a lot like what happens to me from time to time.  I've seen freakishly large spiders on the wall, my room glowing red, some sort of vaguely human shape crawling on the ceiling, something that looks like a face, and a goat's head floating in the middle of the room.  The latest one was a bit less freakish -- as I was falling asleep I heard a female voice call my name, and I jerked awake to see a gift basket of flowers hovering over my bed.  The odd part?  This was on the night of my birthday a few weeks ago.

It's always the same -- I'll jerk awake quickly for no apparent reason soon after falling asleep, and these things will be hovering or doing whatever.  Most of them look completely solid and real (though one time I put my hand through one just to see what would happen), and they slowly fade out as I stare at them.  Mine aren't connected to nightmares as far as I know, though... they usually happen too soon after I've drifted off to sleep, probably before I've had time to start dreaming.  Although, one morning my girlfriend told me that during the night I'd jerked awake, she asked me what was wrong, and I mumbled something about spiders and fell back asleep.  I don't remember any of this, but it does make me wonder...

As for what they might be... I'm as lost as you are.  Mine aren't connected to any particular fears of mine that I know of; I'm not afraid of spiders or anything like that.  The imagery itself often makes me slightly uneasy though -- it can be a tad unnerving to wake up and see a shadowy figure crawling on your ceiling, or a goat's head staring at you from above your bed, heh.  Lately they've just made me more curious than anything, though.

It was actually these "visions" that both got me interested in AP again, and at the same time made me wonder whether it was a wise thing to get into.  I figured these things were just a product of my tired mind, but if they aren't, do I really want to get outside my body and possibly meet whatever is causing them?  And so forth.

I've babbled on long enough... but in short, I wish I could tell ya what they were, but hey, at least you know you're not alone.

Are these the kind of things that people say they 'take their astral swords to'?  They seem harmless enough, I wouldn't want to hurt them any more than I would a 'real' spider.  Do you think they are connected to the bad dreams or are they unrelated?
