Title: An odd experience.
Post by: Iljed123 on June 09, 2006, 08:58:36
Last night as I attempted to attain the trance state as I do every night a really odd thing happened. My body was deeply relaxed and I had attained a light trance and I felt as if I was being pulled off to my right. It wasn't a very strong pull at first so i ignored it attempting to reach a deeper level of trance. But the sensation of being pulled continued to grow. It kind of felt like someone pulling me out of a strong wind that i was attempting to head into. Withing a few minutes the sensation became overwhelming and my trance state shattered.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I don't know what it is, but I've had EXACTLY the same thing!

That is what I am planning to do tonight if it happens again. Well if its anything worth reporting I'll definitely inform you all. But I'd still like to know what this phenomenon is.

i've had similar experiences.  usually this happens to me in meditations when i've already felt a particularly strong pull in that direction during my day.  for instance, say i felt a strong emotional connection to someone or something going on in a city to the east while i was in a different city.  that night during meditation when attempting to enter a trance i would feel a pull in that direction.  maybe this pull seems like a random thing for you.  i would suggest focusing on what direction you are being pulled in and then looking into what it is that might be pulling you there.  Focus onthe direction and then analyze what it is about that location that may be pulling you towards it.

We can imagine more than just images and sounds -- you can use all five senses in your mind, and even more, such as the sense of balance, spatial representation, etc...

When you are in a completely conscious state, this imaginative power is weak, but when you are in a relaxed state or in trance, it is much greater. Reaching a trance allows you to express this imagination so well that it actually affects your subtle bodies, that's why visualization or tactile imaging exercises require so much relaxation.
