Hi all,

My subject is a bit misleading. I'm not absolutely new to this. But subjects are always hard to make concise anyway. Basically, I have a question. Here is my story leading up to the question:

I started attempting astral projection a few years back, and began by reading Sylvan Muldoons book about the subject. I made some progress, but due to various reasons, being flat out at university, starting new job, my aim of achieving my outer body experience got a bit left by the way-side. I always intended on picking it up again, and now, here I am.

I actually managed once an outer-body experience. I think. I will explain.

When I was exercising the techniques in Muldoons book (also Carington) I went through the phase where;
1. dreams were becoming much more vivid
2. Sometimes i would awake ... become conscious, ...... kind of feel like I have.... my eyes open (although i knew they weren't my physical eyes) and I would be able to see.... and kind of look around...
The things I were seeing weren't necessarily real (I will never know i guess) and the experience was always quite short. A matter of seconds... I would see like this, but not be able to move.... (or if i did, i'd be moving my physical body) and slowly, though i'd be grasping to keep it will all my will-power, the image would fade, and i'd be left with the darkness of closed eyes, and  know its time to get up and have breakfast.
3. One time, and this was the climax of my experiences, I became conscious....
It was so obviously more than my other experiences (from point 2) because I no longer felt my physical body, but found myself out in the hall way outside my room. I could look down the hall way, and then I got so excited about it, that It faded, and I ended up back in my body.

Now, I don't really know if number 3 was what one would class 'lucid dreaming' or 'astral projection', but obviously (or least, i think so) i was on the right track. Unfortunately, thats when my experiences ended, and I got side-tracked on other things. Now I'm back, I can afford to have a regular internet connection (not a poor student anymore) and I am gleeful to find a forum full of what seems like genuine experience'ees. So, firstly, Hi all!! Nice to be here!

Question 1: A silly question probably, and you will all think straight away that I am a lazy bugger, but:
Is it possible one of you can just (if you knew me) wake me up in my astral body?? You know, kind of jolt start me out of my physical body as I sleep?

Question 2: As I progress, and manage this (again?), does it get easier?

If so, how and why? Is it because you believe it more (even though I 'believe' i'm sure there's a thread of 'disbelief' hanging in there subconsciously)
or is it simply like exercising... just gets easier? Looser in the body?
Or you begin to expect it happening, so it happens,
Or there is actual technique that you get the 'hang of'?

Looking forward to reading your thoughts!!

Kind Regards,

sean

The Present Moment

Q1: Nope.
Q2: Exercise is a good analogy, and the expectation (knowing it is possible) and lack of over-excitement helps as well. While techniques vary, all of them have common elements of relaxation and altered consciousness. Waking from a restful but shorter than usual sleep is is the easiest way to enter the mind awake, body asleep state.

Welcome :)
Things are indeed silly in this field but not really so...

1 - Ya its possible, and I'm saying this just because I've read stories of this happening to the people. But those who are learning should concentrate on learning, as even if such thing happens and someone does that favor (it will take a master to search for you in astral and reach there and take you out of your body, too difficult, IMO), there is no guarantee that you will be aware of it or even remember it.

2- It does get easier, in my own experience, but again nothing is written on stone in astral. Sometimes there are long periods of inactivity (dry spells) on which you have no control. Sometime the oobes shower on you.

Best way is to go about the routine of meditations, keeping the mind clear of thoughts and intentionally creating situations where the body asleep and mind awake thing occurs. (Thats get up early and go to bed method etc)

Best of luck. :)
