Hello mo3! Welcome to the forum! I´m relatively new as you in this forum and i´m a begginer as much as you. I even stoped in the same way as you. First i get interested in AP (Astral Projection). After that i realised that it was not for a nervous person as I. I was not ready and i´m not shure that i still getting ready. At 2 or 3 weeks ago i started again studying AP. At least now i´m more interested and with less fear. Bur there is something stoping me for going to the next stage. I have fear...for the unknown maybe. I have fear too, of getting crazy or something like, since i´m a little nervous.
At night when i´m alone and i think in AP, it seems something scary. I know that´s stupid but that´s true, but when it´s morning and there is much sun, and them i look into the sky and see all that blue, i think "It must amazing flying around the clouds and see the world from the highs!". It´s like a child: afraid of the night but not of the day (i´m refering to AP!)!! Why is that so?

That´s all for now. Enjoy this forum and enjoy AP! If get out first than me, say something and tell me all the experience and wich technique you used!.

I love you!

Hello and welcome to the Forum!  I highly recommend the "search" function to the upper right of this page.  You can pick a topic or key term you want and voila!  Up pop all sorts of discussions.  Some good ones might be:

vibrations
Frank
relaxation
meditation
fear

Then again, you might come up with some even better ones on your own . . .

Also, I highly recommend the books by Robert Bruce and Robert Monroe.  They could offer you some very good techniqes. They are MOST inspiring, and they hold a cherished spot on my bookshelf.

Hi everyone,
thanks a lot for the replies :)

Good luck on experiencing your first AP, Kazbadan! I plan to stay at the forums for a while, so I would love to hear about your first
succesful AP, or any progress that you have made. Maybe you could even share some ideas on diminishing the fear factor :)

I actually have browsed through the forum, and conducted several searches, but there are still some questions I am unsure about, some especially after reading conflicting accounts. I'll post a few of them, I apologize if they seem silly :-p

- One of the things that scares me about the idea astral travel is that there would be without a doubt people that would use it for negative or "voyeuristic" purposes. This makes me a bit uncomfortable. Are these people able to indulge in their desires?
- Could I meet a long lost friend (still alive, but lives far away) and see them as they are accurately? How about someone I've known but have never met before?
- I read in a book that through astral travel, one could travel into the past, which i find pretty interesting. An example the author gave, was that you would be able to see the first preformance of Hamlet if you so desired. Will it be the real thing, or something constructed out of the imagination? If a person experiences this, will they hear all the lines exactly as they are, or only the ones the person remembers from reading the play? what if a person has never read Hamlet at all?
-I do plan on buying Robert Bruce's Astral Dynamics, but his second book, Practical Psychic Self-Defense, also caught my eye. I don't want to scare myself needlessly, but it if it will help me protect myself against anything that could happen in an AP I would like to have it. Would anyone recommend it for this purpose, or should I skip it?

thank you :)

You can do whatever you want on the astral. So yes people could spy on you with they so wish. But it is unlikely that anyone would. Once you get out it can be a rather overwhelming and enlightening experience. Most people do not think about doing such things as spying on someone else.

The astral can be all about your desires, but there is a catch. To truly be able to navigate out of body you have to have control over your thoughts and emotions as they can color your experience. Emotions on the astral can be very in your face. They are much stronger there and can easily overwhelm you. If this happens you will most likely find yourself back in your body. Being calm and passive is a must for any real astral work.

I have never gone to meet someone when out of body, but yes it possible. Though it can be difficult, especially if you have never met the person before.

There is no time in the astral, only that which you bring with you in your perception. So yes you should be able to do this. I have never thought about it or tried so I cannot tell you much about it.

I strongly suggest that anyone new to AP not read Practical Psychic Self-Defense. It is not a book for everyone, only those that are plagued by this problem. The main reason I strongly suggest against it is because, as Frere has stated in recent posts, it gives a gloomy outlook on AP. Since the astral is very thought and emotion sensitive and you enter with these gloomy negative thoughts you can find yourself in a gloomy negative place. It can also lead you to believe that common, normal sensations you feel while trying and during projection are more than they are, or more negative. I have projected many times, though not to the extent of some on this board, and I have never used any protection other than to try to remain in control of my emotions and thoughts and keep a positive attitude. If you remain positive, calm, and passive then you will be fine in your travels.

Well MO3, I don't have AOL anymore but they have a feature where you can send instant messanger to someone who doesn't have AOL and I could download it then chat with you on the subject.  I recommend that you read Robert Monroe's books... he's the pioneer in this field and probably got most people in this forum interested in OBE in the first place.  I'm certain his books will develop a passionate desire to have an OBE.  Robert Bruce's book Astral Dynamics is also, of course, quite good.  Read as much as you can and find out as much as you can, there are many different authors on the subject.  NDE experiences will probably interest you quite a bit also.  Hopefully you will send me that instant messanger... you can click on my name in this forum and my e-mail address will become available.  Good Luck!

Hello again mo3! I think that i´m really not prepaired for AP, it will take much time (maybe never?) until i AP for the first time. Upon what you sayed, i suppose that the refered book it´s "A.P. for begginers", from Richard Webster. I´m reading that same book. It´s simple quiet enough for a newbie like me to understand most things.

About voyeurism, i have posted something similiar in here. Son´t worry about that! People that use AP for that reason, has 2 main reasons for di«oing that:
- study an enemy to eliminate him
- sexual espionage, real voyeurism.

In the first case, you don´t need to be scared, unless you have enemy´s (real bad) that can AP (very improbable)

In the second case, don´t worry. Guys with sexual purposes, will only  see famous people like Monica Belluci, Catherine Zeta Jones, Angelina Joile...[:D]

I wish that my only fear was only that! There is something scary in getting out of the body. I don´t know what is it. One day i was trying to AP and felt some very bad dizzeness in my brain, very physical. I started to get somewhat strange; i opened my eyes and my vision was a little defocused (i don´t knpw if that word exists in english- i haven´t found it in my dictionary of portuguese-english). I thought that i was having some physical problem.  For instances i tought that AP it was unreal, and that if i continued i could cause some problem in myself (madness, blindness, anything else). That´s a reason too that make me stop trying AP.

I have stoped for somewhile too, because here in Portugal it is the hotest Summer since really many years. All the hot stops me from trying anything[:(!].

I love you!

I was reading Astral Dynamics last night and came upon a section about meeting others in the Astral. Robert said that unless you have a close, positive relationship with someone that it is difficult to go to them when out of body. So I do not think that you have to worry about someone coming to spy on you, unless they have good intensions.

Kazbadan, that dizziness you felt was probably just an exit sensation. I know that many times I will start to feel like I am spinning around before I exit. Sometimes this can be a little uncomfortable if not all of you is spinning. I remember one time it felt like my body was out and spinning but my head was still attached. My body was floating and spinning all over. It was uncomfortable, but that was about it. APing will not hurt you physically, so do not worry.

Hi again all,

thanks once again for the replies, they were all quite informative. I think that I will attempt to AP, but first I will read Astral Dynamics, at least one book by Robert Monroe (can someone recommend me some?) and I will stick around on the forum to gather as much knowledge as possible. I am becoming more comfortable with the idea of meeting negative entities  in the AP world (I suppose that I expect them at this point), but I am still confused about what I should do if I encounter one on the first successful attempt. Should I try to AP somewhere else ("leave")? Go back to my body? Or attempt to get rid of them myself ? I think that the answer is the last one, but there seems to be conflicting advice on the subject. Also, can I make an effective "shield" before actually having experienced an AP?

I suppose the thing that worries me most at this point would be if the entities  were to follow me into the physical world. After reading several entries on this board it appears that it happens. I am not the type of person that would deal with something like that well, and I'm not too keen on the idea of ending up in a mental instituion with schizophrenia. I'm probably being more paranoid than necessary, but I worry that my fear will make me more vulnerable to such things.

The one book I have read so far is Richard Webster's Astral Travel for Beginners (yep, thats right Kazbadan, same book) and it surprises me how little there is on negative entities when this appears to be a common, maybe even normal phenonemenon. From the book, I gathered that it was a rare occurance. Maybe he didn't include this in order to minimize the AP'ers chance of seeing such creatures? According to this forum, you usually see what you expect.

Kazabadan, thanks for the info on spying on people in the AP world. I checked out the thread that you made, and you are right, it does seem pretty unlikely, so I've stopped worrying about that kind of thing :) The dizziness you described doesn't sound very pleasant, but maybe it means that you're on your way to experiencing something. Back when I attempted AP on a daily basis, nothing out of the ordinary happened ot me. Like you, I have similar fears about AP that may hold me back :( Your English is actually quite good, so there is no need to be so modest about it :p I have been able to understand everything you have said so far with no difficulty.

TorosDead, your email address is not visible when I click on your profile, but the forum made it  possible for me to send you an email without having your address displayed. Hope to hear from you soon :)

Hi mo3!

Like you, i am new to AP.  When i first started, i looked up info on the net and found an interesting topic.  The way to keep yourself calm is to make sure you have no fear.  How is this accompished?  Easy, all you have to do is tell yourself "no negative entity can or will bother me."  This seems to work for me and helps me concentrate better.  Yet I have not reached my first AP, but I have gotten along nicely for a newbie!  Good luck, and I hope you are successful!

Update:

Mo3- i found a GREAT quote for you.  here goes!

"Are they evil? Depends on where they are. If you are unhappy and find yourself in the lower levels, prepare to be with those just as despondent as you.
The inhabitants of the Astral Plane are just as good or bad as those here. Dont be near anything that makes you afraid or uncomfortable.
It is possible to actually be followed by one of the inhabitants. If this is not something you wish to happen, keep your standards high and your mind focused only on yourself. You can only expect to be hurt, if you are feeling hateful." -http://www.psychicbody.com-

HI Mo3!

With Monroe, definitely start with Journeys Out of the Body.  It is the first one and easiest to understand.

I do not think that Journeys Out of the Body is out as an e-book.  But I'm not sure.  You can definitely order the book itself from Amazon.com.  Good luck!

go to " a simple question..." and read the response by sstonevenuss...

what it boils down to is that you are you whole and complete where ever you are in any form you are. nothing can effect you unless you choose to be effected...you protect yourself simply by choosing to be protected. only you can make the choices that change your circumstances, any way, anywhere. you are always in control, unless you choose to give control away. no one and nothing has permission to harm you unless you give permission, or believe for any reason you should be harmed. thanks for the tips all, they're sure to become more usefull as i (hopefully) become more experienced in AP's. Also, good luck tenacious :)

I'm currently reading Monroe and plan to read the Journeys out of the Body and Ultimate Journey

Hi everyone.
I've been interested in AP for a while... I attempted to do it for a period of time but then stopped. I think it was fear that held me back inituially, but soon after I decided that it was a heavy thing, I didn't know what i was getting into, and that I wasnt ready for it. My interest has resurfaced, and I am once again looking into the possibility of trying AP. If I decide to keep trying this time, I want to make sure that I am better prepared than last time and ready for as much as possible. Though I have read a book and have browsed a lot on the internet, I have a lot of questions that I'm unsure about. While I would post on this lovely forum here, there are so many questions I have and I wouldn't want to clutter anything. If any experienced AP'ers would be willing to chat with me over AIM (Aol Instant Messenger), I'd much appreciate it.

Thank you in advance.
