Oh my God you must be the most retarded person on this planet to ask something that stupid.

OF COURSE WE DO!! Things wake us up, DBZ-boy. Honestly...how illogical can you get?

No amount of rigorous training, sitting and doing nothing, and clearing one's mind can help a man who hasn't overcome his doubts.

hi ssjoku,

I don't remember ever having "completed" a dream. There are often times when your physical body will wake you up because it needs to go to the toilet, or it is uncomfortable, or there is a loud noise....Obviously you will awake having not completed whatever you were doing..

the same thing occurs often in OBE's also.

Good question. My sexual dreams often go uncompleted...much like real life. [:O]

I've never really thought about it, but indeed I can't remember having a full coherent dream that has a proper ending. It would be interesting to know why it never happens. Most of my dreams make little sense anyway though.

this question isnt as stupid as it might sound, turkey, and i dont think its in the nature of this forum to call anyone retarded anyway. we obviously dont wake up from every dream we have since we have 20-30 a night, unless you have some kind of bladder problem and take a pee every few minutes.

usually when i remember more than one dream, they mesh together, which might explain why they never really end until you wake up. your mind may just wander all night while you OBE or whatever.
What is the sound of no leaves cloving?

I'd agree with No_leaf_clover, that dreams mostly seem to keep going on.
I tend to have quite good dream recall, and it seems to me that they usually neither start nor finish, they just seem to continually run from one scenario into the next.

The only exceptions to this have been dreams I believe have been influenced by external spirits. E.G. a message I recieved in a dream last year - that particular dream sequence had completed and moved on before I awoke.

Another time I was visited by the ghost of a young woman. I spent a long period of time with her, weeks, maybe months (remember, passage of time is irrelevant in dreams and in the astral), and the dream had a definite conclusion. She thanked me for spending time with her and kind of filling a gap that had been missing from her life, then left, at which point I woke up.

I don't think it is a stupid question at all, when you consider there are many different types of dreams with different purposes.

James.

Interesting.
My dreams don't complete but they do end.
I have one assumption that it has to do with free will....
The dream shows what is happening.
Now what do you do???
How could be it complete unless you are dead?
Life goes on.... that is what may mean incompleted dreams...

i dont  think  a  dream is like a story  that  you  seem to  think,  i  think  they  tell  you  what  you  need to  or  should know about  yourself and your life situation... however abstract or  metaphoric  the dream may be.

the  dream  ends  maybe  because  your  higher  self  or  superconsious (etc)   has shown  you  all  it feels  you need to know at this time.

thinking  of a dream like a story  is  to  much  of a "physical"  concept  e.g.  start, middle and end.....

my  dreams  never  make  sense,  but  i  can intuit the general message  that is being  conveyed  e.g.  strong  visual  symbols or  certain people in the dream....  without looking  at it like a story in  any way,  but  maybe  thats  just me.

Hi All,
Interesting thread and one that I am at least well read on. According to the lucidity institute at Stanford, the reason
why people do not 'complete' their dreams is that the only way
to remember your dream is to wake up during it. I have heard on
average people dream 11 times per night depending on how deprived
of rem sleep you have been lately. Since you wake up prematurely
it never seems to finish. Now there is a counter argument that states
that some people remember more than one dream per night but in
reality you wake up several times in a given night without ever
being aware. However, under any of those circumstances the dream
will never be finished with full recollection. Even to help you
remember lucid dreams, Stephen LaBerge (Lucidity institute lead
researcher and author) suggests setting up cues to wake yourself
up after your dream control begins to fade. Perhaps someone WELL
trained in the art of dreaming could remember a finished dream, but
until then I'll just be taking control and waking up when I lose
power.
take care and good luck,
Wonderboy

I read recently that there is a normal cycle of dreams-you change subjects at a regular enterval while you are dreaming-i think if you have a long epic dream you are really lucid and it is a cue to your awareness to wakeup!
In the world in general and in this nation
May not even the names disease, famine, war, and suffering be heard.
May virtuous qualities, merit, and prosperity greatly increase
And may continuous good fortune and subline well-being perfectly arise.
