Are the vibrations merely a blood circulation problem?

Just a Q about what vibrations may really be: You know many think the pre-obe vibrations are spiritual in nature but I was thinking if maybe the vibrations are merely to do with the body trying to somehow circulate blood better or something? your views pls.

I doubt it, because they happen at the exact time your awareness shifts from physical to non-physical. It seems to be a side of effect of that shifting.

Someone mentioned something to me the other day and I found it quite an interesting concept/idea.
What if the vibrations are really just a creation of expectation?

I mean... Robert Monroe first experienced them without knowing what they were.  They could have been his "method" or "way" to begin the out of body state.
All these years people have been using that as the standard for projection.  Most people think they've failed unless they feel the vibrations at some point.
What if all these expectations are the only thing causing it and for Mr Monroe it was just "his individual way"?

Anyway... just food for thought.

Personally speaking, I don't get them anymore even when practicing.  My jaunts into Focus 21 are quite vibration-less.  LoL
If they do exist as some objective experience, I'm almost certain they're nothing physical.

They're definitely not physical. In the few objective studies on OBE's done, including from Monroe, unusual physiological changes were not observed during the split. Not to mention if you suddenly stop the vibrations, they will completely stop. If it was a blood circulation thing then they would remain for a while and fade out.

Ryan, this is very interesting, every beginner expects to experience the vibrations, and when they are in the right position to have an oobe experience their expectations become reality... It's even more intriguing that more experienced projectors do not "notice" the vibrations. Could this be because they have steered away from textbook techniques and found what works best?
Or obviously it could be that the body has adapted to regular exits, and now does not have a "rough" escape....

I think Robert Bruce experienced them too without ever knowing about them. If i remember correctly he started OBE'ing when he was 4 and he then thought that it was something that everyone did. I can't remember him talking about vibrations during that age but he talks about them a lot now and i doubt he started having them because someone told him they were related to OBEs. I think I've heard a few more times about people with no biases about OBEs experiencing vibrations.

I also don't think they have anything to do with blood circulation. They come and fade rapidly and are most commonly (I think) affecting the whole body.
First and only (classic) OBE so far: 12th August 2009
LDs: Once per week :)

I think that's exactly the case. The Lucidology guy explains it in the same way, stating that you don't need the vibes to exit at all, and that they might even be a sign that you are NOT yet ready to exit, but only after they stopped.

I think this as well, the vibrations seem to be to be an uncontrolled/amateur exit which is why they're so common with beginners.
