Rope, "psi ball", imaging your body floating 3 feet above/below, focusing on chakras all these are to take your focus off the physical, which is really the key to projection. Can you think of anything else? It's certainly not a specific technique otherwise everyone would project. They all do the same thing but in a different style. I tried one technique that pretty much is this idea.

I was reading another read about placing a coin on your head and I thought it would be a nice technique to practice both focus and relaxation simultaneously. I normally have trouble with both anyway. I gave this a go last morning after reading that thread. You can choose to focus on the object on your head or try to relax and ignore it to the point to where you don't feel it. I chose the latter, and reached vibrations and I'm betting "astral vision", which is a first for me, either I was visioning my feet or astral vision behind closed eyelids. My sister walked through my room and messed up the projection attempt, foiled again.

Astral projection has to take place when you're not focusing on the physical anymore. So either focusing on the object as a focus point or ignoring it, both paths lead to ignoring the physical. I haven't reached vibrations in months, and now that I have time off I'll practice this daily. It's a nice method of testing you're skills of relaxation, focus, and understanding of astral projection.

I've yet to project and I'm extremely curious to know what goes on from deep relaxation and then a second later, a conscious exit or it's inevitable progression. Do you lose feeling of your eyes? Do you start seeing things while your eyes are still shut? I certainly don't believe you open your physical eyes.
