Omg... .I can't believe I was almost there. Ok... I've projected twice, but out of lucid dreams, so I haven't self induced a projection yet. Today, I was pretty bored, so I thought I'd try (I've been trying since January), so I laid on my bed like normal, and went through all the normal cycles... like, numbing of body, tingling, faster thought, then after I started getting thoughts of random images, like looking at my belt loop while standing up and looking behind, or seeing a head shaped balloon... ecr, The images started to get deeper, and get more like meaningful, I don't know, I can't describe it, but they started to get more rapid and random too, and this has happened to me before, so I didn't really think about it. It was weird though, because while this was happening, I could think about things, like thing of two things at the same time, while the images were happening... ALL AT THE SAME TIME, haha. So I started to get deeper, and every few minutes my mind would snap back to normal, and "check" on my body, but then I would go deeper and eventually, I lost all sensation of my body, and forgot about it completely.

I then started to tingle, but wasn't really paying attention, and then something for the first time happened, I started getting images of like... what it would feel like if someone just like stuck a giant spatula under my body, and lifted me up, like, the feeling of being lifted up without you actually doing it, and all of a sudden, my legs and hands felt like they weren't mind anymore! They started to raise up like they were filled with helium or something! Like someone was doing it for me... and since non of my projections have been self induced, I started  to panic for some odd reason, well not really panicking, but like more of thinking like... this is weird... which eventually took me back to reality. And when I realized I was laying in my bed still... I was shocked! over like a half an hour had passed.
Ok, but my questions are, when it feels like someone else is started to control my body, like... it's doing it by itself, what should I do. Also, I wanted to know from people with experience... can you guys tell like when your thoughts and stuff are leading to sleep? Like, sometimes if you have ever fallen to sleep while attempting to project, you'll know what I mean. It's like, things because really quiet and you start getting really vivid images RIGHT before you fall asleep. That's what was happening to me today, like I got that really sleepy feeling, and usually my eyes fight to stay open when I'm attempting to AP when I'm not tired, but when I'm about to fall asleep while attempting to AP, they are usually closed and really really relaxed, which is also what happened today. So usually when I get these signs, I stop trying to project, because I don't want to sleep. But today, I just went with it, and it brought me into a much deeper state, even though I was thinking I would just fall asleep, because I was getting that sleepy feeling, and kind of getting out of it. So my question is, what is it like right before your project, like detailed, like the thoughts going through your head, or what state your in. Can you describe it? Because I want to know if I'm going to sleep, or going into a deeper state, because today it seemed to work. THANKS!

Once youve stimulated a projection response enough it doesnt really matter at all what you are thinking as the projection is happening. The projection can act like a natural reflex. You could be thinking about when you should do your laundry or reciting the alphabet, it will happen by itself. You can stop it though if you are really really scared and tense up.
If you will it it is no dream.

I find I can think about anything too, it doesn't make a difference to the OBE or the sensations. I just lay there and wait for it to happen, I suppose i'm one of those lucky people who don't have to think about projecting but then i've been doing it for many years, maybe that makes a difference.
