It doesn't surprise me that science is trying to explain things in a nonspiritual manner. However, they HAVE proven the existence of lucid dreaming, so we need to give them credit for that.
While they are not discussing the spiritual aspects, let it be a heads up for those looking for "techniques" because they state specifically that its during the "transition" between sleeping and awake. :-)
The problem is, it takes quite a bit of practice to induce an OBE :-D
All science can do is explain what happens to the body physically. They can not explain what the soul is or why people "float out of the body."

I do agree with you and what you stated. It's always good to validate, be skeptical of the experience. I'm still and I've been at this since 1987 and have had thousands of obe's. But till nothing can tell me different when I return, see validations, precogs, and how it's made a difference in my physical and spiritual life.
Thats one thing science will never be able to take away.

I have to laugh because they have discovered what we already have known for years (and Monroe based his system on) that you get AP/OBE experiences between wakefulness and sleep. Duh! I wonder when they'll 'discover' the precise frequency (Theta to Delta) in which this happens? Maybe they should pay a visit to TMI. :roll:
How much money did they pay this guy to figure it out, and how can I get in on it?
no doubt.. even Stephen Lebarge has documented this in the last twenty years. it seems to me that scientists just keep spinning their wheels and are just as frustrated now as in the past..

Ill-timed disconnection? They make it sound like it's some type of disorder. It's just the language they use, I think it gives people the wrong impression of what this stuff really is.

problem with this is that I've been able to record video tape and document where the experience begins and ends. when I had placed myself into the trance state the experience in physical terms took 10 minutes, but in the astral the experience was about 2-3mins.. there's obviously a problem with their statement made with timing..
