Title: Assistance?
Post by: Thoth666 on October 06, 2008, 23:11:37
So, I've been trying on and off for a couple years now to astral project.  I've had some success, but nothing like what I'm going for.  One thing I find very easy to do, but I'm not sure what bearing it has with the projection process, is that I can get to a state of feeling like I'm not attached to my body, and I'm weightless.  From here, I feel like I'm floating and spinning around the room, but I can't get past this point.  I have stayed like this for 20 minutes at a time.  Am I on the right track?  And if so, what do I do from here?

It seems like your close to going OOB. Next time you feel yourself floating and/or spinning just give into the feeling. After you spin several times, you should have enough momentum to throw yourself OOB. Keep spinning until your only aware of the feeling of spinning and nothing else. You'll feel like your in your mind spinning (if that makes sense) and when you do, throw yourself out by focusing on the far left or right of where your laying (while you continue to spin) and 'let go'.

I'd definitely give a shot at what Prophazuh suggested. But here's my viewpoint in case you try that and still have no luck.

What you're describing is the loosening stage in the OOB process. You can google search if you want more specifics. But it means that you're pretty far, near the last step in having an OBE. It would seem you're on the right path.

Tell me if this sounds right:

You lay down, you focus on clearing your mind, maybe do some breath work. After a few minutes you feel your body going into a trance, you keep your mind clear and breathe. A few more minutes pass and you can no longer feel your body, if you stopped at this point it would be hard to move; your body would feel dead.

You forget you have a body and it's a neat sensation, you want to get out so you start trying to move back and forth with your mind to get out, you feel your astral body is able to move or spin but you can't do anything else. After trying for 20 minutes you stop frustrated.

If I'm completely off then that's fine, but you only gave me so much to work with.  :-) If that's the case then just be more clear about exactly what happens before you get to this point, if you could.

But assuming this is how it is, then I would say your conscious mind is too active while trying to OBE. I say that because you'll normally only float around like you described if your consciously trying to get out of your body. And it's okay to do that, but you have to be *very* subtle and gentle about it.

Do what you normally do expecting that you'll probably get out of your body but don't actually try until you get further along in the projection process. Instead of trying to focus on your astral body or getting out, try to focus on a ringing noise in your head. And follow it... and you want vibrations, not getting out of your body, you want vibrations, because once you have the vibrations then you'll be able to get out.

So your goal is to get vibrations, well not all people get them, but I think it's pretty common. So -- goal when trying to OBE -- not play with your astral body, not leave your body, you want to go so deep into yourself where there is nothing and follow that sound to the vibrations.

If possible try different times of day, when you first wake up, before you go to sleep, in the middle of the day. For me it's best just before I go to sleep, for others it's better if they wake up in the middle of the night, and others after they wake up in the morning... etc..

Well sounds like you are already out then :)
What do you mean by can't get past this ? To where exactly ?

If you feel at this point, that you are out, then you can start doing reality checks etc or try to get visuals or do stuff that people normally do when out, like going somewhere...etc.

If you feel that you are still in, and the floating sensations are only feelings, not real, then you can do whatever our friends wrote above. Else, just relax and watch the experience passively, struggle mostly brings you back.

All the best...

Yeah, I meant that I can't do anything from there.  I don't have control or the ability to go places like I want.  Also, I just thought of a better description of what I'm having trouble with.  I can pretty much be separated from my whole physical body, but I can't stop thinking.  I can't separate my brain; it feels like a weight holding down the rest of my body.
