It sounds like you might be afraid of the darkness and being alone?

If you are I would first try and be comfortable in the darkness and not try to have an OBE.  When you are no longer afraid, or have wird thoughts going through your head- then try and have an OBE.  It is amazing how powerful the sub consciousness is.

Howdy

Yes, I have had this. As a mother with five children, the time I have for things like metaphysical OBE explorations attempts (and some successes) has been before sleep. For me, the astral noise manifests in bloodcurdling screams of my children being slaughtered, people tramping up and down the hallway, etc etc. This went on for quite some time and I found it very disturbing and upsetting. I would inevitably have to get up and check, even though I knew all doors were locked and kiddies asleep.

I think it was like a test where I had to PROVE somehow I was prepared to persist. I just FORCED myself through common sense to ignore the noises, and the pass actually surprisingly quickly. I rarely get it these days.

OK time for tea! Good luck, and please keep us posted how you go. Also check out the belief system cleanse in Robert's article on psychic self-defense as it might help clear the way for you regarding these sounds and KNOWING they are just an "illusion".

Cheers

Thanks, I did pretty good last night. No projection, but little to no fear either, which was my focus. After all of my astral noise experiences, i usually shake myself out of trance, and I'll be completely fine, no fear of darkness or being alone. I think i only get afraid when something disturbs the peacefullness of the darkness/being alone. Also, I'm going to look into that article, and maybe think of it as you did, as a kind of test. Hopefully I can put it off and actually focus on trying to project.

I don't normally hear 'astral noise', however have found
that there is one sure fire way to induce theta while wide awake
and certainly 'hearing things'.
For me it's the dentist chair.... LOL.
No joke!  Has anyone ever had the experience of having dental work done while under laughing gas?  (Nitrous Oxide)
Observing my breathing (respirations)....they must have slowed way down to about 8 or so per minute.  (the usual being 18-20)
Then I start to LITERALLY hear voices of people talking and things like television..etc...  It's the damdst thing.  One time as I was coming out of it.. I asked the dental asst where the TV was...I could have SWORN there was one in the other room that rambled on while i was under the gas.

Truth is stranger than fiction...

I always thought that astral noise was a good thing.I've read that it is a sign that your energy is shifting and that you should veiw these noises as signs to get focoused, and with any luck start up your vibes and exit the body.
I personaly am getting a lot of noise now and like it cuz I know whats to follow or where its heading. You might try looking at sound as pre-o.b condition. This might change how you see the sounds.

The only noises I hear in the vibrational state are swishing like windshield wipers. Or when I'm peeling out as the tingling moves up to my head I hear carbonation bubbles, like 7up... And the occasional loud click or POP!!  No screaming or doors banging. Maybe if you lock the doors first before beginning, you can be more confident of being safe in your own room. That way if you hear these things you can ignore them more easily. Don't let fear weigh you down, this is a natural experience. You're not the only one laying down in a dark room at night, we're all here together.

                        Take care...

Hiya . . .

(At one point) I heard noises, sounds, words, song, radios, TVs, telephones ringing, movie dialogue a few times, couldn't figure it out, it made no sense (nonsense), dismissed them. Last night I got a huge sound like an explosion, it startled the heck outa me completely woke me up (alpha/theta state) I thought the roof had caved in :-))))))))).

If you watch the movie Contact,
As she is traveling out (or in) she is suffering massive vibrations (until she unhooks from physical construct). As she travels (thru denser closer regions) she encounters human thought and words (compounded gibberish).. the further/away/ longer she travels these die out, fade.

Monroe has a term the H band (level) it is human(chaos) emotion thought etc, its thick heavy loud, it's close to the earth, surrounds it like a dirty haze (3-d description), after you've been there done that (know this area) you avoid it, or pass thru it very quickly.

IMO as we are going in-to-out-of-body (shifting), we can pass thru noisy levels, based/merged close-er to in-physical state-s, it is distracting and more physical (denser) feeling.

The noise is just phenomena (common) but don't get stuck there, keep going trust your self, you'll survive.
Just a learning experience IMO.

Fallen Karma

Most of the noises that you hear before astral or in the first stages are unconciously  pre-recorded noises that usually only play back when the mind enters a state in which it stops providing background stimulus for you.  Your mind compensates this emptiness by playing back sounds heard at one time or another by the person in quesion.

I've been having some pretty horrible experiences with astral noise, and nothing I do has helped me get over my fears. I've heard the things a lot of people hear like banging on doors and windows, but I am not accustomed to hearing things that arent really there and seeming so real.
I've tried leaving a light on, but that doesnt help at all. I do fine in daylight hours, but I dont have the time to do that very often. Basically it is battle of will against fear for me. I'm not sure which is winning, both are very strong in me.
I'm just asking if anyone has had similar experiences and/or if they know how to overcome/shut the noises out. thanks
