Attempting to get there

Hi everyone.

I have been working for about two weeks now to achieve an OBE. I haven't had much luck lately as I usually fall asleep or I am distracted by continuous thoughts. I do know that the process takes time and I am okay with that but I would like a little advice or tips on how to get closer to my goal. I have had some "experiences" while attempting to have an OBE. At one time i was trying a trick where I would meditate by taking long deep breaths and sort of focus on separating from my body. It took about 15 minutes before first noticing something. First there was what looked like a yellow mist just floating around when I had my eyes closed and it stayed like this for about 5 minutes before actually disappearing. While seeing this mist I also felt a, well I want to call it a vibration but I am not 100% sure. This "vibration" started at my feet and eventually worked up my arms and then too my head but as it got closer to my head I felt less of it near my feet. As the mist died down so did the vibrating to the point where I was unsure of whether to proceed with attempting to roll over or just lie there. At that time I thought I physically had to roll over so that's where I was unsure. I know now that I have to mentally roll over if that makes any sense lol. Also, I am not sure whether or not I was in sleep paralysis or not, the feeling was hard to explain.

There were other experiences I have had one of which was what seemed like something just going right through me and taking my breath away just about, I was excited yet fearful at the same time. One last experience was with my trying to repeat to myself "Mind awake and then say body asleep." Doing this caused a slight tingle in my arms and occasionally my left leg twitched. This twitch was much bigger than any twitch I have had before lol. Sadly though my friend texted me and the vibration scared me and I lost all concentration  :cry:.

So to end this I just want to say that I am wanting to have an OBE really more than anything right now. I am scared, not of the thought of me not being able to return to my body but of a ghostly figure or something appearing out of nowhere and scaring the crap outta me lol. Anyways thanks for any info you all might have. I know I have a lot of practice to look forward too.

Edit: Sorry for not including this but if anyone could lay down some information about a spiritual guide or something. I once read about it but haven't put much thought into it.

Hey Steve, you're right about it taking time. But the reward is well worth it. It's good to see you're meditating, that's the first step for the long haul. If you wanted to start experiencing OBE's I'd recommend setting an alarm for 4 or 5 hours after you fall asleep, when the alarm goes off, get up, maybe use the bathroom, then go back to bed. Try to remain alert, but passive, a hard trick. Hopefully your body will soon fall asleep and you'll come floating on out.

Be aware though if you have fear, the astral will exploit it. So there's a good chance something is going to pop out and scare you if you carry this worry with you. Just say, whats the worse that can happen? And then accept it. If something pops out, well, it's only a non physical being, I'm not gonna be worried about it. Fear is just something you don't want with you, and it could prevent you from projecting at all.

As for a guide, there generally around when you enter the non physical. When you project just think about how nice it would be for someone to bridge that gap between yourself and this huge place you know nothing about. You could be direct and ask, it could work, but just use your mind, think about your guide helping you, they might make an appearance. Best of luck to ya!

Thanks that bit of info helps  :-D. I understand the whole fear situation and I think I can handle it. I feel like i would get around that quite easily. About the whole spiritual guide thing, I sometimes wish to hear some sort of entity (not sure if that would be the correct term or not) that would help to me achieving this OBE. May sound weird to some people bit I can Picture it happening.

So that trick worked for the mostpart. I went to bed around 10 pm and woke up at 3 am. After having gone to the bathroom and then getting some water i got back into bed. The book im reading suggest that i try a 3 part cycle of basically mentally moving my shoulders (phantom wiggle) then try moving my hands and finally my feet. I felt something in my left arm and i continued dping this until i decided to try and get out. I kwpt picturing myself as light weight and that i would float up the cieling. That feeling was one of the weirdest yet greatest feelings ever. This also was causing my heart to beat rapidly and it was very noticable lol. What ruined all this was my curiosity to see if i had done it and so i opened my eyes... Everything then just went away. I cant wait to try again :)
