I agree! But on Dalnet. Why? Because of Chanserv, Memoserv, Nickserv...you do not have to put on bots:)

Great idea, Tao!

Tao

Thx.. i thought about it a long time...
Dalnet... well lets do it on undernet first
After this... we`ll try dalnet

Thats a very good idea but i don“t see many people interested on it. It would be very useful for begginers!
I love you!

Links Shadow

We already have a chat but no one ever uses it.  Here is the link and it is an irc chat room but you connect using java.  If people want to start using it I will happily join in and help people any way I can.

Ashy

I think that is an excellent idea.
As Links Shadow said there already is a irc chat room.

The server is
irc.webmaster.com  port:7000
and the channel is
#astralchat

Let's all start to hang out there[:D]

<edit>
had the server name wrong [:I]

AstralTym

to let everyone know, there is already an active chat room on undernet by the name of #obe.  i used to frequent the room until i found these boards, so everyone might want to check out that channel as well.

Tao

Ashy, that server you posted works.. but when i try to join #astralchat i receive this: "#astralchat Cannot join channel: Must identify to your nickname to join an unmanaged channel."

an unmanaged channel :) that doesn`t sound right !

I say we must all agree to the same meeting place: i still belive undernet is the best place: #astralpulse

Any new ideas are welcome,
Mike

Tao

PS: the next 36 hours i`ll be on undernet: #astralpulse
If i don`t respond it means i`m away (i`ll leave a message anyway)

My question is: if a person connects from US and another from EU is it possible that they can meet ?

Tao

Why don`t we create a meeting place on Undernet (or any other server) using an IRC program ? - we could have brief chat sessions - and with Adrian's permission we could make a new post with the chat logs :)

**** Intro ****
Using an IRC client (program) you can exchange text messages interactively with other people all over the world. Some of the more popular chat clients are mIRC, Pirch, and Virc for Windows and Homer or Ircle for Mac's. What program you use doesn't really matter; all of them connect to the same chat networks. When logged into a chat session, you "converse" by typing messages that are instantly sent to other chat participants.

To download an IRC program follow this link: http://mirc.com/get.html
There are other IRC programs like pIRCh,IRCle(mac users) or Virc, but it doesn`t really matter what program are you using - all of them connect to the same networks..

**** How to install and use ****
(1)Installing mIRC
Locate the mIRC 6.03 cabinet which you just downloaded and saved to your harddisk. It is named mirc603.exe

To start the installation process just double click on the cabinet. The installation program will be started automatically.

Determine the place on your harddisk where you want mIRC to be installed. Normally the proposed c:\program files\mirc will do fine. Upgraders just browse to the directory where their current mIRC version is found and select that as destination directory.
If you want the installer to keep backup copies of all eventual older files, keep the "Make backups" option selected.
If you want the installer to add a mIRC program group to windows and set up the mIRC icons, keep the "Add icons" option selected.
Select 'OK' and you're done! The installer will take care of all the work.
(2) Setting up mIRC
- start mIRC
- mIRC will start and show the Options Dialog and require you to fill in some information

- you must fill the nickname edit box

***For Europe: - click "OK"
           - now write in the bottom bar: /server amsterdam.nl.eu.undernet.org
***For US&CA: - select "Undernet" from the combo box called: "IRC Networks"
          - select a US/CA server from the second combo box (i think that`s how they`re called)
          - CLICK THE "Connect to IRC Server" BUTTON... NOT the "ok" one !!!

If you`re connected (some text will appear) write in the bottom text bar: /join #astralpulse

**** If you`re having problems - try http://mirc.com/install.html
, or ask me here :)

Hope we`ll meet on #astralpulse chat room soon,
Thawon
