Hey everyone,

Ive been doing some thinking today, and i want to know what your ideas are about what the soul is?

Is the soul consciousness itself?  Or something which connects to a part of the body or the brain to sort of "take control" of the body?

Is the soul the life force of the universe?

Is the soul some sort of quantum or maybe a particle at a even less dense frequency than quantum mechanics?

What exactly is the soul?  I guess this is a question which has been troubling people for thousands of years...  Will we ever really know?

What are your ideas?

Let's start at the beginning. We all have physical bodies. We also all have something that moves our bodies. We also have something that is responsible for responding to stimuli, making judgments, and expressing those judgments (beautiful, good, bad, ugly, etc.). That's an elementary summary of human composition.

Now what part do you want to label the soul? Some use the term to cover any non-physical part of a human being. Others believe it's only the part that makes judgments (the consciousness). Then there's the spirit. Is it different? Is it connected?

I've given up using the word "soul" or "spirit" because I think they carry too many inappropriate connotations.

Fascinating, but perhaps a bit beyond a human mind?

Is it not like asking the Frog to cotemplate why it jumps from lilly pad to lilly pad? Or the dog why he chews the bone?

Simple but complex. Perhaps the very existence of man to contemplate and understand the essence of the soul, if there is one

for if there is then all Supernatural/religious/esoteric will have validity and meaning

I guess the soul is maybe the life force of the universe, i dont know.

I think we all have souls tho, whether that soul is consciousness we will never know, im sure the soul has something to do with consciousness.  And i guess the soul connects to the body from a certain part of the brain.

I dunno

Who knows

lol

To me the soul is the creative life force of the universe.

Imagine that you cannot see, cannot hear, cannot taste, cannot smell and cannot feel any physical sensations. Try to think of it, what you are left with? I think it's the soul's consciousness.

Galaxy, I still associate my consciousness in a way with my mind. Which I think is still a living breathing organ, very  much tied into my body more than my spirit of any kind.

Though I could be wrong. One indentifies consciousness often with the soul as when we die, it fades out. Depending, it may be snuffed it out, quickly too.

I associate the soul with Spiritual BluePrints of my Life's Actions. The Deeper Being that is part of this Vessel. Mind-Body and then Soul, not consciousness and when I die, I do not expect that the Being that I will be will be much like me. The Opposite... Like a Prizm, my consciousness is one facet, one window into untold numbers of Life's/Bodies and conscious beings

Rebellious to the end, perhaps a conscious mind-body, wishes to break away from it's binds of Soul, it's Obligation to Karma, it's own Rite and passage, via it's own life, and Truly Individual Indentity. Perhaps?
