Sorry if this question has been asked before. When your out of your body and you think about your physical body you get snapped back into it. How then when your out of your body and you turn round to see your physical body lying in bed do you not get snapped back then? Surely you are thinking about your body if you're looking at it? Confused

Don't turn around and look at it.  :)

Hi Zanth

Appreciate your reply but my question was WHY dont you get snapped back in?

I'd would imagine that this is because when you think about your physical body, you are thinking about the fact that you should be occupying it, which pulls you back, whereas if you actually see your physical body, you are likely to percieve it as something separate from you, just another physical object, and being close to it is likely to reinforce this perception of separateness. Maybe.

Xanth

Oops!  :)
Yeah I read that wrong then.

I'd imagine it's because you're already separated.

I find what draws me back to this physical reality are the physical reality sensations that my physical body is receiving.

When you're at that point, you've probably shut down most, if not all of those sensations.

Is it possible you're new to this and are still very much shocked when it happens or attached (psychologically i.e. have difficulty imagining yourself outside) to your body, that seeing it makes you snap back?

I have read many accounts where people have been snapped back into their bodies, experienced as well as novices, when they have thought about their physical bodies. Many authors have said not to think about your body or you will get pulled back. But why not when you see your body surely you are thinking about you body coz your looking at it

Ive had numerous experiences but crave many many more. I have on one occasion seen my body in bed and just turned away and carried on with my journey, another time i thought about going back to my body and low and behold what happened? i was back in my body before i knew it.
So the moral of the story is don't think about going back to your body or you may well find that's what happens.

thoughts can be very powerful in that realm
Perception is everything, because you think you see it, does it mean its true?

You have to maintain a detached attitude. Or thinking of your body tends to reactivate it.

Thanks for all your responses. But how can you look at your physical body when having an OOBE without not thinking about it ie "oh look, there is me lying in my bed" surely just by the mere fact of you recognizing the form you see is you by definition you are therefore thinking about your own bodyThat being the case you should by all means be snapped back into your body???

Just thinking about it doesn't necessarily take you back if you can remain calm enough.

If you start thinking too much of it, as if you're going to move it, or start 'identifying' with it - emotionally, not intellectually - that can bring you back.

If you're not too afraid, or startled, if you can keep calm enough, you may stay out.

In other words, function as if you're a spirit! lol.. don't make muscular efforts, don't think of making other vigorous movements...  anything that you would do with your body because you may trigger the body process or function itself, which might wake you up.

Not always. But if you feel your control is shaky, try to be detached, and just use thought to get around.

Of course eventually you might be out and do a bunch of things like you do with your body and you won't come back. Just that if you feel you might go back easily, keep the detached, I'm a ghost I don't use physical functions to get around attitude.

It's because you don't have the intent on returning back to your physical body. It's not the act of THINKING of your physical body which pulls you back, but the INTENT on returning.

Whenever i look at my body i don't get snapped back, when i do have a look for some reason i feel as if that body is not mine so maybe that could add too why i'm not getting snapped back

When im in the black void after getting out of my body i do find myself that i have this force that's pulling me back towards my body if i don't get away from my body asap, but this could also just be a mind barrier because as i physically tried too fight it i was struggling but when i got my mind too be at peace kind of thing i was able too move better

I think it depends how lucid you are and your state of consciousness. I've never turned around on purpose to look at my body but one time I did have a long experience and ended up laying next to it in bed because I wanted to wake up but i still had a hard time reentering it probably because I was so concious in my OBE it made it hard to physically wake up

AstralBlogger

I have looked at my body but always before I astral project I use a mantra that states I will only go back into my body when I want to. That usually works for me most of the time it enables me to look at my body or poke and prod at it figuratively of course haha.

Sorry about the lack of information I hope this helps. mantras can help with a lot of things even those things not relating to astral projection.

see you on the astral my friend
