Title: Binaural beats, BWG, it worked!
Post by: LittleJoe on August 05, 2007, 09:49:33
Hi all,

I've just registered on this forum, but have been reading it for quite some time now. I have been practicing to consciously go out of body for about two weeks now. I have tried a lot of techniques, some of which gave me some result, but none felt like "it was the one" if you catch my drift, none were 100% comfortable for me.

Then i thought back of an essay I once wrote about I-Doser, a program that uses binaural beats to simulate certain drugs. I remember that at the end of my essay I came to the following conclusion:

"Some people report feeling the actual effects of the 'drug' they choose, while others say that no matter what they choose, it only makes them very relaxed. I think the latter do not yet understand the powers of the subconscious mind. I believe the binaural beats are used to put the user into a trance, after which the subconscious remembers what effect the drug is supposed to give, and induces these sensations"

Then I figured with some slight tweaking this could work for OOBE purposes, instead of having the subconscious induce drug-like sensations, I should be able to use the beats to put my mind in the right state, and then consciously try to get out of body.

So I started looking around and came across Brainwave Generator (BWG) and found out they had binaural beat 'templates' specifically made for OOBE. I decided to try Deep mind 6, and I noticed at the comments section that a lot of people think merely listening to these sounds forces you out of your body automatically, naturally they were disappointed. I told myself I wasn't gonna make that mistake, and find a technique that utilizes it, rather then depending on it.

So I installed it on my laptop, lay down on my bed, and put on my headphones. The first thing I had to do was get over my fear. You see I get scared laying with my eyes closed AND having headphones on, because someone could easily sneak up to me that way. Of course no one is gonna sneak up to me in my own room, it's just one of those irrational fears of which everyone has at least a few.

It took about 30 minutes for me to get really comfortable, and so i started to experiment. I noticed that listening slightly, helped me sink deeper into relaxation. I still had my dimmed lights on, and when I closed my eyes it was still rather bright. But as i kept listening closely to the sounds, it got darker by the second.

I knew this was a good thing, because that is what happens when I do my regular breathing exercises. I think after about 30 seconds I was enveloped in total '2d' darkness, and my body was getting quite numb. This usually takes longer if I try it with regular techniques.

So now I had to find a way to focus my attention somewhere other then my physical body. I figured I'd try something with the binaural beats. After a while I noticed that when I was deep enough in the darkness (I think this is a trance) I could deform and control the sound with my mind!

It would normal go "WU WU WU WU WU" but I could make it one long "WUUUUUUU". I could also pitch it higher and lower.  After playing around with it for about 3 minutes, I noticed that the "lights" behind my closed eyes, were now moving to and away from me, they also had depth, I made it to the 3d darkness!

I figured this was the time to try some techniques. So I used the 'mind awake, body asleep' technique I once read here. First I would focus my consciousness on my mind, and I said to myself "Mind awake" then i focused on my body and said "Body asleep".

When I said "mind awake" I let the sound go "WU WU WU" and when I said "Body asleep" I deformed the sound into one long "WUUU" with my mind.

Then I started to see the most real hypnogogic imagery I have ever had. One moment I was trying the technique, and the next moment I was on broadway presenting my latest invention, neon lights. Everyone was blown away by this invention and I knew it was going to make me filthy rich. Then I suddenly remembered I was trying to go out of my body, and I went back to the 3d blackness. It was like a vivid dream that lasted about a minute.

More followed, and I stopped doing anything, I just let the imagery come to me, and it did so without any help from me. After about 5 minutes I sank into what seemed a dreamless sleep, for about 1 minute, and i woke up feeling myself above my body. I wasn't using the technique, I just woke up feeling that way.

Then I felt like my whole body was gently vibrating, but I didn't get excited, because I knew I shouldn't. This was the first time I have ever felt the vibrations! Then I remembered many 'first-timer's' said the vibrations would soon grow so strong it would overwhelm them. So I had to find a way to distract myself from fear, and getting overwhelmed. So I made a song in my head, while still focussing slightly on the vibrations.

It was like this:

"Little Joe, the human vibrator, floats out of his body, and into yours" ( :?)

After that I was about 10 seconds into them, and I felt my body again, but it wasn't my physical, and i figured I should try to sit up. Somehow my mind kept telling me to wait a bit longer, but I just didn't want to. I sat up in my astral body, and instantly the vibrations faded and my physical eyes opened. So I advise you all, listen to your instinct!

What I'm trying to say here, is that software such as Brainwave Generator can be very usefull >AID< for beginners like me. But remember in the end it's still up to you! I will now make a short list of what I did to get to the vibrations state, for others who are interested:

- Installed Brainwave Generator, and downloaded the "deep mind 6 (VI)" template.
- Lay down on my bed in a comfortable position and put my headphones on.
- Listened slightly to the sounds, and saw the dim brightness behind my closed eyes grow darker and darker, until all was enveloped into a deep 2d darkness.
- Started listening very intensely to the sounds (the "WU WU WU") sound. for about 3 minutes.
- Started playing around with the sound, noticed that I could deform it with my mind, I think I also did this for around 3 minutes.
- Stopped playing and looked at the darkness, I noticed the 'lights' were now in 3d.
- I used my favourite technique (you should replace mine with what you find most comfortable). I focused on my mind and listened to the sounds go "WU WU WU" and said "Mind awake" then focused on my body and deformed the sounds with my mind to go "WUUUUU" and said "Body asleep".
- Started to get vivid Hypnogogic imagery (feels like very short dreams). Didn't do anything, just let it come at me.
- Drifted out of consciousness, and woke up with the vibrations, I figure this is what people talk about when  they mention the 'blackout'.

Lastly I will mention two things, that took me quite some time to find out, and were holding back my progress with OOBE. First, relax the eyes! I read that somewhere on this forum aswell, and caught myself twitching and moving my physical eyes a lot. Try to relax them!

Secondly, when for instance I say "I got the hypnogogic imagery" or "I drifted out of consciousness" this doesn't mean that you should TRY to do these things! If you try, you will most likely fail, so I've noticed.

I merely mentioned these as markers, so that you can see how close you are. Remember you have to stay passive all the time, don't try to work towards a trance, don't try to work toward vibrations, practice a technique you find comfortable and it will come by itself!

Wow this turned out to be a rather long post, I tend to ramble on a lot, so I better stop now. If this helps even only one person I will be happy! Good luck.
