I'm not talking about near death experience or such.
I was just wondering if someone can actually die while obe...
I felt like i was going to sufficate
cheers
No... that was you trying to fight your own breathing. When we are in REM atonia (sleep paralysis) our brains kick into automatic mode... your rib muscles are essentially turned off while your diaphragm is automatically breathing.
You won't die... I haven't nor has anyone else that I know of.
No one can truly know... unless they woke up and proclaimed to the world "I'm having an OOBE" then dropped dead... that's the only way we could know.
Apart from this... you were only aware of a process you undergo many times in one night.
I need to write a treatise on Sleep Paralysis for this forum.

Please do!! There are several other forums whom need the assistance... it's such a misinterpreted experience. >_<
It is a common belief that we all go out of body during sleep , but dont remember , or just in vague dreams . Some think if you cut your aka cord you will die . Some say they go with out a cord at all . Many people have written books on a.p. Robert Monroe , DickSutphen ,W. Buhlman ect. all say you will be fine , some say use protection . desert rat
Well, it depends how you define 'die'. Physically, of course not. You're heart is beating hard through the entire process. I have, nor have not seen any accounts of AP leading to ill physical repercussions. Sleep is inherently good for you :-D.
The worst that can happen is you let your brain get too far out there. So, be safe with this stuff, you don't want to reprogram your brain in some crazy fashion or self induce something terrible like clinical schizophrenia. We are dealing with one of the ultimate boundary experiences here, so this is highly plausible. Stay grounded. Stay skeptical. Trust, but verify.

Oh, please do, I'll sticky the crap outta that.
Cheers,

I say we need a poll: "Have you ever died during an OBE?"
I've died three times!
I did some more research on (sleep paralysis) which explained that sensation of suffocating,
I was trying so hard not to float but to breath and move my arm, I think the fear of death kindda made the whole thing very real. I was not even guessing whether or not it's possible or if i can do it . I knew 100% i can and I was scared senseless...
fear worked in my favor, it made it happen.... how my own mind plays reverse psychology on me..

Fear can instigate SP... but it can colour it.
It's very common for one to, at the bring of flipping into SP, suddenly have a thought that someone has broken into the house or that something has entered the room. This follows on throughout the cycle.
When I first started experiencing RISP when I was little... I thought I was dying or going to die. It's a very real fear and maybe a sort of ego death type affair.
