I don't have Gateway, but I have other Binaurals and they don't work at first and then stop working- I think it's more like 'they sometimes get you really relaxed' and sometimes don't- not in a progressive way like chemicals would.
But of course, I suppose someone who has an addictive personality could have the tendency to be addicted to them- but I doubt it.  They're just not conducive to the kinds of 'highs' or 'blissful feelings' that alcohol or marihuana give- no 'punch' and crash, just relaxing and almost-sleeping.  Trance.
That's exactly how I see it as well.

They're more of a guided meditation with binaural beats in the background.
They're guided by Robert Monroe himself, well, the first few waves at least.
I haven't used mine in a while, but now that I have a better idea of what I'm doing, I'm slowly going back to them again.

I tried it two days ago. It was the orientation when I went to focus 3 I saw some kind of colors behind my eyes. I'm going to try the next track.

What a pity, and I explained it so delicately to him. Well then...sounds like it'll take him a long, long time

Good luck

kind regards,

Paul
