I too had a vehichle dream turn lucid on me this morning.Mine was in a jet plane which I recognise as a que.
Now I dont know about looking for vehichles being an o.b.e,but this morning what did get my attention was that while becoming lucid rather than continue to raise my awarness I appeared back in bed with a "flexing energy" sensation that was short lived.Now after reading your post I couldnt help but wonder if mabey vehichles do indeed represent an o.b state.For instance it is the motion that catchs my attention in vehichle dreams.And now that I think about it [though I cant be entierly sure] I know in the past that when having a motion lucid dream I seem to get cut short of increasing my awarness due to shifting back to my bed where I may experince energy transitions of sorts.
In motionless lucid dreams however I will build awarness of vast intensity then either choose to play or transfer over to my body where I will begin to work on seperation.
Anyways its just something i've only noted now.I'll be paying close attention to this from now on.

I once read that if one dreams that he or she is looking for their car, it is actually an OBE and the person is trying to get back to their body. In dreams we oft times think of the car as an extension of ourselves.
When I initially read this I thought it sounded kind of strange and I questioned if this were true. Well, this morning I was sleeping lightly at my fiances house and I during a long and strange dream (of which I will you spare you the details) I suddenly became lucid. In the dream I had been trying to find my truck and when I became lucid I decided to float up into the air in order to look down and locate my vehicle. As I flew up into the air I suddenly started to feel something change and then, WALLAH! I became conscious and sat up in bed with a big grin on my face.
