Title: Choosing to not remember?
Post by: Tiny on March 28, 2010, 04:05:57
Dear folks,

a thought popped in my mind lately - a consideration that in many of our travels that we don't remember afterwards, we might have actually had chosen not to deliver memory to our physical bodies in fear that afterwards our body-minds might abuse, corrupt and spin the knowledge that had been gathered.

What do you think?  :-)

kind regards,

Paul

Robert Bruce actually had a good video explaining why we dont remember a lot of what we experience in our non waking conciousness.  I think the problem lies in our 'mind' being seperate from our 'brain'.   If it were merely a matter of ethical use, then those who currently abuse higher knowledge wouldn't be able to, but there are plenty that do.

I have a terrible memory.  When I was a kid it was excellent and at some point it just wasn't and got worse.  But I still read constantly and try to 'soak up' as much info as I can even though I probably remember 10% of it.  I always felt like that information was being stored somewhere somehow and would come in handy someday :)  Sounds stupid but it's a nice thought.  Maybe the same goes for your forgotten travels.

I'm sure it varies greatly, but in some cases it may be that we're not where we need to be physically to consciously handle what was gained. Or that the information works subconsciously and guides our physical decisions without us knowing it. Maybe if we did consciously know some of the stuff, fear would keep us from experience, so it's best not to be aware. And later you'll be like "ohhhhhh... I get it."

I think Robert Bruces theory about the Mind Split effect makes sense. That our mind "split" during OBEs, one part stay in the brain and one part in the astral body.
If your brain is too asleep it cant receive the memory. And if your brain is too awake it will overwrite the memory and you can feel exit sensation without remembering anything afterwards.
It goes something like that if i remember right.

I actually never put much credence into Mr. Bruces mindsplit theory.
It just doesn't ring much truth in me.

He says he have experienced it. His mind were split into brain and astral and the two parts had no idea that they were split and could not communicate with eachother. Then when the astral came back he suddenly had 2 separate memories from the same time. He writes in book Astral Dynamics from each part of the mind how the experience was. And from experiences like that he founded the theory. Makes sense to me after experiences like that. I can't come up with any better explanation for it.
