So I decided to give up on WILD entirely because the hypnogogia was fierce and was starting to unsettle me to the point that I wasn't a happy peaceful person anymore.  I'm pretty sure I WILDed so much because I took naps from about 6-8 pm and went to bed at around 12am. I now follow the 6 hr. rule with naps.  I have to have 6 hrs. of waking time between my nap and bed.

Well, last night I messed up at little.  Fell asleep at 11 pm and woke up at 11:45, brushed my teeth etc. and went back to bed at 12 am.  I soon fell into a kind of very peaceful WILD where there was just this beautiful light all around me and I felt very happy and at peace.  I didn't even know I was WILDing until I hit that momnent where i instinctively wanted to wriggle out of body.  I then went on to have a RTZ OBE.

So my question is why did I have this very peaceful kind of WILD?  Was it my sleep schedule?  Just a fluke?  Thanks!

You may find the things on your mind created this. It's what your subconcious sets up to enable the dreams you have in respect of.anything that you've experienced earlier. Say you've watched lots of videos that scare the pants off you, this will be influential in your dreams. If you've had a really good few days with no worries at all this will also influence your dreams.
The technique to exit can be affected in the same way.
You're in a bad mood and attempt an exit for to get revenge on someone will give a result, if successful that you may not like.
Your state of mind is important and any fears not controlled will impact what you experience.
A relaxed and calm state of mind is the best thing to have as the results are more successful.and pleasant.

yea, makes sense.  In thinking about it, my most peaceful or uneventful WILD exits have been at times when I'm totally content and peaceful.  Still, I have times where I feel like I'm not fearing yet some things will happen during exit (SP) like a presence walking with heavy footsteps up to my bed, banging on the wall near my head or worse yet someone in bed with me, touching me or outright attacking me.  My OOBEs, lucid dreams, and regular dreams are all positive experiences. It's only SP that is negative.  I bet if I were able to absolutely believe the scientific explanation that they are hallucinations I would be able to get past it.  As it is, I think science is probably right, but there is a part of me that doubts and wonders if while we are exiting (and having SP) we are hooking up to a spiritual realm with spirits who are trying to scare us.  The neg. stuff happens at about 50% of my exits.  Anyway, I'm tired of putting up with it.  Luckily I don't have to give up on OOBEs entirely.  I will probably still have them 2xs per month or so with exiting from a dream.  Not as many as I used to have but I will start working on this technique and I hope to improve.  Maybe I will still WILD in daylight hrs. if hubby is laying next to me--anything to feel more safe.  :)

It's your fears that are getting at you.
I can create all the noises, footsteps music etc in the final stages of exit. I don't have any fears at all and can generate some nasty effects. They take a couple of seconds to appear and they seem so real too.

Next time you try, think of a tune you like, you can put your own words to it too if your awareness allows. Its not difficult itself but controlling the level of awareness is. Too much and you can wake up unfortunately.
Its new and unchartered territory and thats the part where the fear comes from. Its only new to you at the beginning, after that, its the norm. So skip the beginnings and go for it.
Hallucinations is a really good way of looking at it. Unreal, pathetic and tell whatever you see, hear or feel to go away.

When you say you can generate the nasty effects without any fear, do you mean you are actually trying to make these things appear as a kind of experiment?  How do you do it?  Do you will them into being like you would in the actual lucid dream?  Can you create what ever you want or are the hallucinations random?

I do the music technique you mentioned.  I think I probably quit doing it too early in the exit, though.  I'll try to hold onto the tune all the way through and see if that helps.  Thanks!

It's tricky keeping yourself that aware without waking.
It's thoughts manifesting. I've not tried any touchy feely stuff but a while ago I made some music and changed the lyrics and got hit in the face unexpectedly. I removed anything external just in case. I got on with it after that.
Keep yourself as a strong willed entity and nothing bad comes near.
