Since I was young I have had the ability to go into deep trance quite rapidly.  It used to scare the hell out of me before I knew what was going on, but recently I've practiced staying calm and attempting OBEs.  Here is what happens: I lay on my back with a pillow under my neck, within minutes intense vibration/energy fills my body.  And I mean it is often VERY intense, the other night it was like I could feel my eardrums vibrating, fortunately I've become used to this and am usually able to remain calm.  I've also mastered the ability to snap out of it by focussing on wiggling a finger.  When I open my eyes during this I get all manner of frightenning images/hallucination, so recently I've kept my eyes shut and concentrated on staying calm.  I was happy to read the other day that OBEs can only be attained with eyes shut, although I don't really understand why this is so.  Often I will get very real sensations of movement, either side to side or up and down, often I've been sure that my physical body is about to fall off the bed only to open my eyes and realize I haven't moved.  I'm a bit discouraged in that I have never attained my "astral sight".  Could someone give me any tips on how to acheive this?  Tonight I'm going to try the ROPE, up until now I've never used any technique except mentally saying "out" over and over, and simply trying to will myself out of my body.  Another oddity, if I have several drinks on one night, it's a 100% guarantee that I will reach the vibration trance the next night without any effort.  Anyone have a clue to why this could be?  I'm concerned that I'm "cheating", it seems strange to be able to reach this state without any relaxation excersizes or meditation.  It feels like the alcohol knocks something lose in my brain making trance much easier the folowing night.  How bizarre is this?  Thanks for any advice!

be detached as possible, pay as little to any attention to what is happening, eg vibrations, and slowly but surely, you will start to float out, thats all, the more you thrash around, the harder you make it on your self. keep it simple is the key.

Do you ever get to the stage where you don't feel physical any more, in that you are ever so slightly separate from your body (but still encased in it)?  It sort of feels like you are floating in water and mildly swaying.

Well, if you get that feeling, chances are you are now experiencing your astral body, rather than your physical body.  The easiest way to get out from this stage is to simply roll out, either to the left or right.  This is done exactly as if you are physical and you roll over on the bed.  It's one of the easiest methods, IMO, but of course you need to be astral before you do it!

Mentally saying out is not active enough.  Another good idea is to visualise a point, say at the other side of the room, and throw your consciousness there.  By this, I mean you mentally imagine springing your consciousness back (like a rubber band) and then when you feel it's taut enough let go and let it fly across the room.  I find that suddenly in an instant, I'm at the place where I directed my consciousness, without all the hullaballoo of getting my limbs stuck trying to climb out of my physical body and so on.

However, the second method is a bit harsher than rolling out.  Once you've rolled out, move away from your physical body as soon as you can, and your astral sight should appear.  If it doesn't, I find that going to another room can trigger it.

The rope technique is another method that works for many people.  I can't comment on it, because it doesn't work for me.

Sounds like you are very close - good luck and keep us informed of progress.  :)
