Confusion about not thinking about your body whilst exiting

Hello, I've been experimenting with the OBE state for quite a few months with various levels of success. One thing which puzzles me in all my research into OBE techniques is the seperation stage. A lot of people advise that your thoughts should be removed from your physical body at this stage, but at the same time they talk about 'rolling' out of your body, imagining you are floating upwards, being pulled by a magnet and so on. However I feel asthough all these thoughts relate to the body in one way or another. I wonder how is one meant to project whilst at the same time not thinking of their physical body? Grateful for your insights.

There are a couple of different techniques to achieve this. There is the focusing on your body and seeing one limb at a time leaving the body or asking for help to leave it. The other I find is much easier which is known as Phasing, with this you just observe the darkness behind your eyes until you move your focus upwards, than you will start to see images, scenery etc. With the 1st method alot of people look at themselves after separation.

"Rolling out" is quite natural if you are in the right state. You need to be deeply enough relaxed that your mind is no longer connected to the physical body. It feels just like if you were physically rolling over in your bed. I have actually made the mistake a few times of not being in the relaxed trance state and l physically got up, only to find myself not in the Phase but wide awake in my room.  :-D

Haha c0sm0nautt I almost thought you where going to say that you fell out of your bed instead of 'rolling' out.

I find myself reaching a stage where it feels asthough my head and feet and coming out but not fully. It's quite frustrating sometimes so I tend to just give up, especially if I'm an hour or so into the trance state. I guess I should have more patience. I also find my chakras go crazy, with my heart, throat and solar plexus thumping away.

Does it feel like your body is expanding or like you have a phantom limb? If so, you are well on your way to the Astral.

You forgot about your physical body that way so it can relax. An exit method shouldn't have to do with the physical body. Like the rope method, you don't even have to visualize. All you really have to do is feel what it would be like.

Yes it feels exactly like this. I also get this sensation during meditation. My head is usually the first to go... It happens fairly quickly but I feel unable to get the rest of my body out...

Also I wanted to ask, would you recommend that I picture a certain place I would like to project to or should I stick to picturing my bedroom? Usually I picture myself at the door and opening it but a few occasions I pictured myself being somewhere very beautiful and scenic and even at my mothers home in England.

Or.................
You could try Phasing.  Which is a smooth transition of your consciousness from this reality to another reality.
You don't separate... you don't feel any of those sensations you do with classic separation OBEs.  You're just "here"... you shift... then you're "there".  :)

Look up Phasing if you're interested.  :)

But but but what about the vibrations necessary for exit?

You still get vibrations with phasing, they are just much weaker, kind of like tingling.

You don't need vibrations to exit.  As far as I've experienced, they're not the key to projecting... and definitely not for phasing.  :)

Generally, you don't get vibrations with Phasing.  If you were to hold on and by-pass phasing you'd move into a classic separation OBE, then you'd get them.

I was just poking some fun. I don't get them much anymore.

Can exit both by being focused on something that is part of your (energy) body (like hearthbeats, third eye etc.) and by having your focus away from your body. What it is generally meant by having focus away from body and then rolling out is that once you reach the stage where your astral body detach from the physical, you are THEN aware of your astral and physical body and can simply roll out. Rolling out is for many easier way of leaving the body than getting up.

If you are using visualisation technqiue, then I'd recommend to use an image which you find spiritually interesting and inspiring to focus on. If you have been to some beautiful place in nature and can feel yourself there well, then I'd go with that. End goal is that you focus on something which will keep your interest enough to hold on to it and not slip into daydreaming.
