Hola people.
I'm another N00b to the whole process of OBE, and I'm still not convinced that it works; this is irrelevent however. I've been working on meditation and achieving a trance state for a few days now, and I have a couple of experiences to run by y'all for some insight. Thing 1; The other night when I was meditating, I entered a state that I'm unfamiliar with. I was practicing breathing and I felt that I had entered a very deeply relaxed state. I then felt an energy (almost like a light that expanded my consciousness a little bit). Once it took hold I felt very disoriented, like my body was floating and different parts of my body were spinning or rotating in seemingly random and changing directions. This state lasted for a while, then slowly disperced (after a couple of minutes) without further incident.
Thing 2: about a year ago, before i started looking into OBE, i had a very strange experience while going to sleep one night. I wasn't especially tired and I had alot of trouble falling asleep; at one point after I became relaxed I lapsed into what was a very confusing experience. I snapped into alertness and was lying on my bed exactly as I was when trying to fall asleep. Everything about the room seemed remarkably real, not like a dream. The confusing part was that I couldn't move; I lay there trying to move for a couple of minutes, then I woke up in reality. I was shaken, but resumed trying to fall asleep. Strangely, the exact same thing happened over again, as I fell asleep, I would snap into alertness in my own body, but unable to move. This time, however, I managed to roll off the bed and fall to the floor, where I crawled toward the door to my dorm room. As I reached the door, I woke up again. This repeated itself a few times; including some instances where I would 'snap back' in the same quasi-dream state I was snapped from.
I'd like to hear your take on these events, so many replies are expected
thanks!
Thing 1:
Sounds like a deeply relaxed state. Body distortion is quite common. I guess this can be attributed to attention taken away from physical stimuli to the extent that the mind fills the 'holes.'
Thing 2:
Sounds like sleep paralysis and a potential LD or OBE occurance.
Your first experience seems like a very common initial step in identifying your own awareness. My first experience was almost exactly like this. I felt like I was in space with no gravity and was just kinda floating.
Your next experience is referred to as sleep paralysis. The reason for this is that your brain will switch off your motor skills active connection. For instance, if you were having a dream about running, and your motor skill were still active, then your physical legs would be moving back and forth. This would make sleep very dangerous. Your brain transitions you through the different levels of sleep and disables the motor functions when you get close to REM sleep. All in all this means that you have achieved staying awake while your body continues to shut down. This is a really good step to achieving oobe.
Again, your experiences are a lot like my own and your dream matrix is also familiar to me. I worked out a test to figure out if I was awake or in a lucid state. My test is to force my hand through something solid, such as a table or a wall. If my hand goes through the object, I then know that I am not in the physical. If not...... well it just hurts a lot. Once you can be sure of your state of mind you can continue to investigate your surroundings and the oobe experience. I once repeated a dream cycle 20 times, in which I kept getting a drink of water. It was the deja vu that alerted me to the possibility that I was dreaming.

learning does not make you a fool, for we were all in that boat at one time...
