My grandpa died this past year. He was a very bitter and unapproachable man in his life. He had very little relationship with his family. On his deathbed I wanted to tell him not to be scared, to ask for a guide on the other side... but I was scared myself. My ego got in the way and I just couldn't get around to talking to him about this stuff.

I keep having these dreams dealing with him. When he was dieing the dreams would involve me kind of lecturing him on spiritual issues. Another dream involved me finding him in a dark room and bringing him into a more well lit area. I've had a dream where his ghost/shell/essence kind of came at me and I felt this burning feeling, like my energy was being drained.

Just last night I had a dream where I was at a funeral. My grandpa was at the funeral - arguing with my grandmother as he did in life. At one point the dream cut to a new scene where I sat down on the couch next to my grandfather. I remember looking into his blue eyes - the whole situation seemed almost surreal, but I wasn't completely lucid. He told me that he "doesn't have anyone." I told him he needs to look inside himself to find everyone. I wish I could have given him better advise. My fear started to get in the way and his face became kind of distorted right before I woke up.

I guess I am writing to see if anyone has any kind of experience with this sort of thing. I feel like I have responsibility to help him. But my own fear towards these sort of things always clouds the situation. Has anyone ever had similar situations?

I had something similar happen to me with a very close family member, but in the end, it looked like it was my thoughts, that I did not do enough, that were haunting me and playing out in my dreams and sometimes lucid dreams.  The reason I say this is that during my brother's meditation, my close family member spoke to him briefly in a very calm and happy voice and said she is fine.  My brother said from the tone of her voice alone, it was clear to him that she was absorbed in a heavenly vibration and very peaceful.

I had something similar happen to me- I think you are connecting to him subliminally and doing the "retrieval" that you were too afraid to do directly.  If you continue to have this dream, a poster at AD suggested something that sounds good to me- manifest a pillar of light (practice doing this in your mind at other times) and when you see him again (if you do) manifest it to him and direct him to it- his guides and/or facilitators will take it from there for you.
Sometimes, if there is 'unfinished' business between you, you will continue to have these types of manifestations until you get through it, even more than him, who has all the time he needs, so to speak.

Thanks CFTraveler - I didn't quite see it from that perspective. I seem to know that this is a learning experience for me as well.

My simple advice - let go. Move on.

Your desire to help is causing the dreams. It takes a lifetime to accept spirituality, you couldn't have turned a seasoned person into someone of totally opposite nature on his deathbed. Realize this and accept.

Yes, I visit my deceased stepfather when I want during OOBEs and he has also surprised me in lucid dreams. I've also had some confirmations.

About worrying where your grandpa will be...don't worry. It is his journey just as you have yours in this realm.
