Yes last night I was able to OBE after quite some time. I lay on my back dead still for roughly 25-30 minutes very calmly thinking about OBEing then later felt the vibrations then heard all the weird stuff you may hear before you seperate such as voices and such, then I was out and in my bedroom!! with my eyes open. It was cool! although I did notice some distortions and differences in the RTZ such as my windows being green?!?!?! and my bedside lamp and bedside cabinet being on the opposite side of the room. Yes I saw myself also.

For a while before I OBE'd I have often asked people the differences between lucid dreaming and an OBE. Many have often said they are the same but I can honestly say after experiencing many lucid dreams in the past and now a full blown OBE, NO NO NO NO!! they are NOT the same. In a lucid dream you are in just that, a dream that is more clear than a regular dream but your only knowing of a dream and  how clear it is, AFTER you wake up and recollect it. That's the huge difference between any type of dream and an OBE, your conscious IN THE NOW in an OBE, just like your conscious and in the now whilst reading this and going about physical life.

I felt I needed to stress that to anyone confused between the differences. Ty all.

Congratulations.  And also, you are quite correct as to lucid dream and OOBE differences. In a lucid dream, you know it is a dream- In an OOBE, you know you are awake.  At least, that is how it has been for me.

Did you use any exit techniques or did you just lay there thinking about OBE? Also did you just naturally pop out of you physical after 30 mins?

Yes, but does OBE only feel more real because we exit into our familliar surroundings (usually our bedroom)? For me at least, lucid dreams usually occur when I am already in some strange situation, in a location which is often an odd blend of several half-familiar places. For that reason they are bound to feel more dreamlike aren't they? So maybe the difference is just one of perception....

Well, sure how one perceives is important to the way one views OOBE or lucid dreams. But for me, it is more than just that I feel awake in the OOBE.  It feels like I have full waking consciousness. My mind seems to work the same way as it would being awake. That is why OOBEs seem so real. And it is probably one reason that so many have to overcome a very real fear in initially going OOB (at least those of us who were originally spontaneous projectors).  If I am afraid in a dream, and I am lucid, I can either force myself to wake up, or I can change the dream.  When I am in an OOBE, I already feel fully awake, so any threat that may cause fear seems totally real.  One other thing- for me anyway- I almost never start to "see" in the familiar surroundings of my own room.  But even in the earlier experiences when I did start in more familiar surroundings, the intensity of the experiences could generate fear that felt very real.  Imagine an experience in which you had continuity of consciousness from your head hitting the pillow, to being taken out through the roof to what appeared to be the far reaches of the solar system.

Good for you Plasma.  I just confirmed the same thing for myself for the first time last week.  The OBE state really feels absolutely real  even if things are odd about it - wrong colors, not the correct orientation of the room, etc.  I can't wait to go into another one so I can consolidate that feeling and hopefully do some interesting traveling.

I've lucid dreamt a half dozen times at least and had uncounted vivid dreams.  I used a technique outlined by Carlos Castaneda in his writings - look at your hands in the dream, then at some dream scenery, then back to your hands.  Do this several times and each time the dream becomes more real - you actually wake up in that place.  These dreams are very real feeling even if they shift quite a bit. I've had 100% volition in those states, but they tend to be very short lived.

Congrats on going OOB! It's great, isn't it!

I agree as well as to the feeling of OBE and lucid dreams. The RTZ type of OBE definitely feels the most "real".

I had a RTZ OBE once where I didn't even realize I was out until I realized something was out of place, then I woke up. The experience freaked me out!  :-o

Good job man!  I'm hoping for my first experience sometime soon as well.

Did you use any special techniques?  At this point I'm trying everything and anything, but nothing seems to really work!
