dieing while astral projecting?

I've been wanting to have a OBE lately but I've been hearing a lot of people taking about scary stuff. I saw a lot of people taking on the internet about dieing while projecting.
Let me quote one site.

What you are probably wondering, however, is if some entity on the astral plane can attack and kill your astral body, thus causing the death of your physical body, right?

If this has happened to anyone, we would not know since they would not be alive to tell us.  I personally believe it is possible, but highly unlikely that you will die while astral.  I believe there are beings out there powerful enough and strong enough to sever your silver cord while you're astral, but I think the actual chance of this happening is really small.  Your silver cord is the tether that keeps your astral and physical bodies attached while you're incarnated.

Now, if someone kills your physical body while you're astral, you'll just move on like you normally would if you were inside your body when it died.

I've talked to a guy who jumped in front of a train in his astral body, and he's alive.

But I was reading somewhere about that you can stop functions in your body, like stopping the heart etc, which I also doesn't really believe on ;s

Yeah, stuff is pretty scary. Wounder if it's true, if it is I don't think I am going to project since it has a risk of death.

You shouldn't let these stories scare you. You will be missing out on very special experiences. There are far more positive OBE-stories, why focus on the scary ones? Visualize that your OBE's will be positive and they will be positive and very interesting!

The times you had a nightmare, you didn't die; no difference in what you are doing in 'astral travel' or dreaming. In fact you may have been 'astral travelling' without knowing it , in any vivid dreams you have.
Just don't worry about it.
[By the way the correct spelling is 'dying' in that tense.]

I too have read several OBE accounts about a person's astral body being 'killed' while on an astral or ethereal plane. I too immediately dismissed those accounts as untrue (or impossible). After further reflection, however, I am not quite so sure.
What may happen is that, like physical death on material earth, death on an astral or an ethereal plane is simply a transition from one stage of existence to another. Perhaps some spirits must 'move on' from one astral plane to another in order to evolve. Those of you who are familiar with the Spiricon device of George Meek might remember that their spirit communicator Dr Jeffery Muellar (sp?) told them that he could only stay a short period of time near the earth bound astral plane before having to move on. So maybe this condition of needing to move on applies to most, or nearly all, spirits. If so then the death of an astral body could only be the shedding of one subtle body on one plane in order to inhabit another subtle body on another plane.

The reason I say impossible is because our awareness is crazy attached to our body and perception through the body.  So, without a VERY disciplined mind and impeccable understanding of how consciousness works and how it works relative to the body, I don't think that someone could permanently detach from their body (die).  Perhaps there could be an obscure possibility of tricking your consciousness into believing that the body is not there, thereby killing it.  But I think that possibility is too minuscule to worry about.

If someone dies in their sleep how would anyone know it was from astral travel?
We die from a physical body misfuntion. heart attack, suffocation (by wife who is fedup of husband trying to astral travel)

Seriously, if you look at why people die while in their sleep, there is usually some cause, and it's not any different while awake and walking around- you are in the etheric and the astral and the mental all the time, you just don't realize you are.  And you usually don't die from being present.
