I have been having very weak dreams / astral experiences in the last year, but in that time I have dropped 50 pounds. I have another 50 pounds to go, but lately I am having more vivid dreams. I think there is something to it, as like it is what binds us to the earth. but then I also wonder, do other things like cigarettes prevent us from it, what about things which are purely psychological addiciton like TV or video games, it seems those can effect our ability to get out too. what are your thoughts?

All physical attachments - cravings/desires, worries, fears etc. they steal our peace, inhibiting us from going into a trance state essential to project (atleast for conscious inductions).
Just days ago I put on some music that really helped me letting go and under in just a few minutes I had my energy arms floating over my body.

According to Robert Bruce tho, "natural projectors" have the advantage that the experiences of their unwanted projections (as everyone has them) become dominant memories and get a permanent storage in the brain, unlike most people, so even if conscious inductions fail it seems that you'll still have plenty of OBE and astral travel.

All of us - according to many OBE researchers - effectuate Astral Projection. Every night. We're not conscious while doing it, that is all.

Attachments don't prevent you from consciously astral projecting. Your mind might be thinking of whatever you fancy; that might present itself as a roadblock but don't be tricked: it's not.

I am very much in love with my earthly attachments and after listening a couple of times the "Gateway" tapes, I did not project -; but, the first tape alone(Orientation, Wave I) made me disconnect from my body really fast.

I mean, when the exercise was over; my entire body was so tired and it hurt. As if I was leaving my body; dissociating my spirit from it, you know?

Yeah, after a few moments, my mind wasn't racing. I wasn't thinking of my earthly attachments.

Natural, "every night" projections... not so much.
But if you're trying to cause one to happen consciously, then yes, weight is going to be one of the solid factors going with or against you.
It's always good to be physically fit, in anything you do.

If you're a "larger" individual, you might find you have trouble breathing and other issues like that related to being overweight.  This is something that can impede any conscious efforts.

Here's my idea on the subject:

When you're lazy and don't will change into your life, things like video games and booze and food etc takeover. Not that they are inherently bad in themselves, but with a lack of will and discipline they can be.

When you recognize those things and decide to change them, it strengthens will, which strengthens discipline, which builds confidence, which can help in a myriad aspects of life (including AP). I noticed a big difference in myself when I started working out and eating better. Not that those things help AP, but strengthens the will to do difficult things like AP.

being over-weight does not limit the out-of-body experiences. I did a three year study on my food/sleep/exercise and the only thing that I could come to conclusion is that food didn't make no difference.

Only one thing that I can suggust is that alcohol / drugs will limit the experience and not give you the energy and focus in which is needed to be successful at projecting. Again, how do I know this - I have seen my experiences for the last year cut short due to alcohol intake.. I normally project roughly around 80-90 OBES a year that I have documened statisically - at the present I am at 61 experiences f0r 2009. I don't think that I can pull off 30 OBES in the next 2.5months.

You are more welcome to review my data online at my site for further research.

Hope this helps -

but the bad foods which make somebody overweight, then that is as bad as drugs / alcohol isn't it? because of all the chemicals in them and unnatural ingredients, they are no better than drugs, so will take up some of our energy, let me know your thoughts about that tvos.
