Title: Does energy = consciousness?
Post by: missym on May 04, 2010, 16:59:56
What I've wondered for quite awhile is after people have died and passed on, but had a very close connection with some physical items, if there is energy around them does this mean consciousness?
Hmm lets elaborate..

If I were to take a heat-signal thing(can't recall the name of it, but it is used to show heat signals/spikes in the area you point it at) and there is a ton of heat radiatating off say- a teddy bear, does this mean consciousness exists here too? (think - ghosts, spirits, etc.) I know the easiest shape for energy to take is a circle, hence all the pictures with 'orbs' and such, but does energy = consciousness?

I think consciousness is made up of energy but not all energy is consciousness.

IMO consciousness has energy...and everything has energy. Matter has energy, thoughts have energy, feelings have energy. So I think Consciousness is not the same as energy but conscioussnes has energy.

Heat, light, etc are ways of energy exchange so don't expect to detect energy only with a heat detector, you would only detect energy radiated in form of heat.

Energy has no shape itself. Maybe you mean a manifestation?.

Maybe it depends on what do you mean by consciousness.

Yeah, after saying that I thought of that also, then just decided, "I hate labels", once again. lol, even I don't think I know what I mean by consciousness, as it is defined by everyone differently and apparently I don't have a strict definition of it. Is it awareness, or is awareness created from consciousness? Generally to be conscious is to be aware, yet do you need to be aware to be conscious? It leads to even more questions that I don't have answers to.

Everything = Energy

mmm...maybe we have to define what we understand is energy. I use the physics definition or concept...with this concept, everything has energy but only energy=energy. Energy causes things to happen but things are not energy...¿maybe the concept or energy is the same as conscioussnes?

You're using a limited term defined by humans in our limited understanding of this reality.
Unfortunately, that's comparing apples to oranges, in my opinion.  :)

So...what is the wider definition of energy?

Dear missym,

I feel that energy equals awareness, equals consciousness.

The spirit consciousness seems to be a collection of energy particles that has taken on a soul (artificial body) and is further complicated by incarnation.

kind regards,

Paul

Incoming cop out answer!!!
I don't think there's one that we'll all accept, nor understand.

I just look at everything as the base material which I believe it's created from.
Energy.  :)

It definitely is far from an answer for you, but it's all I've got.  hehe

Without thinking about it too much, I don't think consciousness is energy, or that everything is energy.
Of course, I "don't know nothin' ", but as to what occurs to me is that
energy is what stuff is made of- so things that exist or can exist are energy expressed in different ways-
but what makes energy 'be'  and 'behave' and 'have form' is consciousness, and that is not energy.  Energy seems to need to be somewhere- consciousness doesn't.

Like I said before, just mental meanderings of mine.

What you're talking about missym is a common occurrence.

I won't say that energy = consciousness, but energy can be emotionally charged by one's awareness.

At my job I encounter people all the time who think they are "haunted" or being manipulated by something other-worldly.  9 times out of 10 they have picked up someone else's emotional energy.  During a normal day most of us have some kind of interaction with someone else that involves strong emotional energy.  It might have nothing to do with us, we might just be near other people arguing or expressing love or something to that effect.  When people experience and emotionally charged situation they generate strong emotional energy around themselves and that energy can "attach" itself to our energy field around our body.  That energy can also attach itself to objects.

What people often experience in this regard is a "negative" or heavy emotional energy that they picked up somewhere that clings to them and makes them feel bad and they usually think "OMG I'm being haunted or possessed".  But that's not usually the case, it's usually just energy, not a consciously aware entity.  It's easy to clear it, sage smudging or a bit of visualized "light" around your body will do it.

With objects the same thing can happen, especially with objects someone has possessed for a long time.  This is what psychometry does, reads the energy left behind on objects to see who they belonged to and where they've been.  This is essentially how I do psychic readings.  I have someone hold a bag of quartz points while they think about their question or just hold it for a minute, then i take it back and "read" the energy they put into it.

I guess it's simply if you look it at it like this.
If everything was energy even consciousness then in theory you could actually be disassembled. Pure death if you may literary pull every energy thingy from each other and shot it through every corner of the universe. I did not say destroy I just said disassemble. Or you could be harvest, reused, forced, manipulated even if you had no body or nothing.

On those basis I don't think consciousness is energy. I think it comes from the core, as everything else. It's more of an projection from the core.

I think the universe is made of mind
it starts at the akashic plane or the mental plane then rolls down hill to us
i think all things are ideas and there for all energy is an idea or an opinion ,like gravity for example
so i would say consciousness = energy

Everything in the physical is made of energy, this we know.  As far as energy always meaning consciousness, I personally don't think so in all objects.  However I also think that consciousness couldn't exist without energy, though whether it is consisted of energy who can say.
I think that all living things, including plants, have consciousness, but have never really suspect inanimate objects to hold such.  But then we have collective consciousness to think of.

So, basically, I have no idea  :-P   buuuuut I think the answer is in the "gray area", so to speak.
