Staring at Myself

Here's my latest progress.

My goal 2 days ago was simple. I was to go to bed at 9 PM and then wake up around 2 - 5 AM and begin listening to the saltcube rhythm napping timer ramp with a 4 minute base. The track is 2 hours and 12 minutes and can be found in the new Vol. 2 saltcude series at lucidology.com. My plan was to use these timers to have a series of OBEs so that I can get used to astral projection and how it feels. The new series builds on the previous series and is very complex and advanced for my level. Having a series of short OBEs might not be profound but I have plently of time for that and I think I should be taking baby steps at this point.

I actually got in bed around 9:30 PM and then automatically woke up at 2 AM after setting the intent. I started the timer and then struggled for what seemed like an hour trying to block out distractions. I then decided to use some of the advanced visualization techniques that I watched in the new series last night and within minutes I felt a wave of energy surge through me really quickly. This energy didn't feel like vibrations at all, it was similar to goose bumps.

I wasn't sure if I was free from the physical so I sat up in bed and looked down at the pillow to see if I was still laying on it and to my delight I was! It was the classic OBE, I was sitting up in bed looking at my sleeping body with my physical body and astral body overlapping at the hip. The most incredible part of this was the fact that I could hear my physical body breathing and I was not controlling it at all. It was the most amazing thing ever. I literally sat and stared at my body sleeping for at least 5 minutes. This kind of goes against the "don't think about your body" scenario that pulls you back in.

I finally decided to move away from the bed and by simply thinking about it I was instantly standing by the door leading out of the room. I started walking down the hall and for the first time I had the urge to look down at my astral arm. It was solid black, like looking off into space. I then reached out and touched the wall and expected my arm to pass through it but it didn't, instead I felt the texture of the wall moving across my hand as I moved.

I continued downstairs and when I got there it was not my current living room, it was the living room of my ex-girlfriend's old rental house from 2001. I got kinda ticked at that point because she was a total grump that hung me out to dry in 2003 when I went into the hospital. I decided that I needed to leave.

I remembered that there are people in waking life who want validations so I tried to focus on their faces one at a time but I was not able to go anywhere. I gave up and started looking for a door out of there and sure enough, the same door that was there in 2001 was right there waiting on me. I could see very bright light bursting through the cracks around the door and I knew that if I opened it, I would be blinded. I started walking towards the door and the room started getting darker. I commanded clarity and awareness but the experience faded out and I woke up.

Interesting read, may I ask which visualization technique did you use?

dbmathis

First I was simply visualizing an overlapping blackboard in my immediate field of view and I was writing my daughters name in the over lapping area of to the left.

Then I moved on and physically turned my head to the left and fixed my focus in that direction and then I slowly moved my head back to facing forward. Once my head was facing forward I felt like I was still looking to the left which left me disassociated with my physical body.

Then I felt the energy wave across my body and felt slightly out of phase and that's when I sat up out of body.

Thanks! I think this was discussed in the saltcube videos..anyway I've resolved to stick only to 1 technique (VES) for now and work on it for the next few months at the least.

dbmathis

Yes, this was a modified saltcube technique.

What is all this Salcube stuff everyone keeps going on about?!?!?!

dbmathis

Hi Bellend_1010,

Nicholas Newport (Previously known as Matt Jones) created a series a videos called "How To Lucid Dream" on the saltcube.com website. The videos and instructions may possibly be the best Astral Projection instructions ever made from a practical application point of view.

Within the last month he released Lucidology 102 which is Volume 2 and it builds on the previous saltcude.com videos and can be purchased at http://lucidology.com/ which also includes the first videos.

I bought both but I think there are some free sample videos out there. I highly recommend the videos but i don't recommend using them as your only source. This is not the definitive guide or anything, it's just very very good.

Best regards

David

I would have to agree that for many it's probably the best and most systematic set of instructions, tho for myself I found certain parts lacking.. for example it doesn't touch on how and whether to focus thoughts, if you should be thinking about the many steps or trying not to think etc. His explanations are very 'scientific' and 'analytical' but somehow I find I tend to lose my way and go off tangent on single aspects at times.

Also, the timer method, which I imagine must be very effective, is useless for me unless I have no qualms about waking my partner up repeatedly every night.

dbmathis

I use ear bud headphones and an ipod Nano for the timer :). Works great.
