Title: Does science aknowledge the etheral/astral realm?
Post by: Tongo on August 26, 2012, 23:34:21
Does mainstream science generally recognise the existence of the astral/etheral realms as perhaps other dimensions or are they just seen in skeptical ways as just meaningless hallucinations from the human mind?

I trying to see generally what is thought of astral projection scientifically.

Technically it does, yes, as pseudo-skeptics have no interest in science. You could say the mainstream public believes the astral is fake (and you would be wrong again) but you can't refer to this belief as science, and so we can conclude that mainstream science recognizes the astral.

depends on the scientist, each person is an individual, there isn't such a thing as "one" view in science, this is what materialists and skeptics try to make us believe due to their false belief in a dogma

btw, we can also ask: which science? there is more than one science, next to "Western" science, magick is a science, esoterics is, occult sciences we hear about, hermetic science, kabbalistic science, mystic science etc. pp.

on comparing Western with Eastern science of the mind, read Capra's book or listen to this short part here, the Eastern method also uses repeatability in its experiences, which is a basic foundation of Western science, too:

in medicine now the 'body field' is discovered and influenced for healing purposes, there are already therapies in energetic medicine developed now, acupuncture and similar practices also have to do with this and are practiced for millenia now, they are an empirical science, too!, the 'body fields' are nothing else but our etheric (or whatever) parts 'surrounding' us

so again: what is "science" anyway?

Hmm. I believe Science is what humans made up to explain things happening around them in a logical way that provides them with safety of mind that nothing can go wrong.

If your talking about mainstream western science no. Mainstream Western Science can not acknowledge the Astral because the experiences are subjective. In order for something to be considered fact in Western Science it must be objective and repeatable by other people at any time.

That is where the issue lies the majority of people can't just have an obe whenever they want, the content is different for different people, There is no physical characteristics to examine. That doesn't mean the astral realm is not real it just means that science can not prove it with the tools at it's disposal and therefore does not acknowledge it.

Hi,
The ether respecting the astral is bad for western science. Its already been scoffed at so it cant be reintroduced easily.
The aether as a medium for electromagnetic transmission is still in dispute. It has permitivity and permeability. It therefore has an inherent impedance. Its omnipresent in all things and its parameters can be changed somewhat by energetic fields. Even with these known facts the West cant agree on its existance.
The all pervading enigmatics of the scientific community...

Science?  No.
But once you experience a reality which you identify as not being this physical reality while you identify yourself as being completely awake and aware... then you'll know.  :)

With regards to mind and consciousness, first and formost we are our own scientists, each of us, exploring the 'self'.
