Although I am able to OBE/WILD whilst lying on my side, I am naturally MUCH more comfortable doing this whilst lying on my back. This is because I like to exit by floating verically upwards and it seems odd to do this whilst physically lying on my side. Does anyone else have a preference and has anyone noticed any difference success-wise between the two positions? I checked the FAQ and this doesn't seem to be covered....?
I dont know. Its all in the opinion of comfort. You should experiment with positions, whichever is the most comfortable. I also like to be on my back but i naturally go to my side. Lately ive been going on my side because it feels like i get more images to keep my company. But my back does feel more comfortable so i might get more vibrations on my back. So... its really a matter of opinion. Maybe one day try an AP on ur side and the other day try it on ur back. Maybe sleeping in an awkward postions helps u so i dont know really.
Thanks Doc! Actually I suspect any difference is more psychological than anything else. I do know that I prefer to lie on my back though....
Most people say its best to lie on your back but I've had spontaneous OBEs a few times when I was laying on my side and stomach-down. After your muscles go numb there's no reason why it should matter anyways.
As for me, I always meditate on my back, and so I've drilled my body and mind into a program that says - "on your back-don't sleep - on your side-sleep".
That's very convenient. I almost never fall asleep while on my back, unless extremely tired.
Hi catmeow
When I first started, I found lying on my back would always put me to sleep. But for some reason, I persevered with the practice of MABA on my back. Eventually, my determination paid off and I can now have OBEs from lying on my back, side or standing on my head. OK, perhaps a slight exaggeration there, not standing on my head.
I prefer to be on my back as I find on my side to be slightly more comfortable and I tend to nod off before I've even begun to relax properly.

I've found that if I wake up in the morning and lay on my back, I'm much more likely to experience false awakenings or paralysis.

I'd like to se that!! (ok I know you were exaggerating!)
Thanks for the replies, I think the idea of training yourself to go MABA rather than fall asleep when lying on your back is an interesting one..... When I search into myself I suspect that this may also be part of the reason why I prefer lying on my back as well, though it never occurred to me. Interesting...
