Sometimes I do a WBTB and listen to Focus 10 tape, then find a good position to sleep in and begin countdown. If things go right and conditions are perfect, I will be startled a bit by vibrations or sounds while lost in HI.

sweet_celestial_sounds

Thank you for your post Albert.

I think that HI mean hypnagogic imagery. What does WBTB mean?

Anyone else??

Thanks,

I've never had a concious projection, but I can get to the trance state with out too much trouble.  Usually before I sleep I do a few Yoga poses to relax.  When I get in bed I do the physical relaxtion exercise from Astral Dynamics.  Then, I do energy work (MBA) on my entire body, from feet, up to the crown of my head.  When I have the energy flowing, I feel like my body is floaty and like its vibrating.  Once there I focus on my breath and try to feel as if I'm sinking on the exhale.  This whole process will take me about 15 minutes (unless I move the physical body which ruins it for me), and I'll drift into trance, mind awake body asleep.

Only, once I get there I start to panic most times.  The vibrations feel heavier and I feel heavier, which is an odd feeling.  A few times when I did not have a clear enough mind (overtiredness), I feel like I'm going crazy when I get to trance, i.e., wierd noises in my head, voices (maybe I'm just crazy, hehe).

Albert

WBTB is wake back to bed, get out of bed after sleeping a few hours to wake your mind up, then fall asleep. Hopfully your body will fall asleep and your mind will still be awake. This is mostly to induce a LD although it should work for projection.

You are not crazy. It happens to everyone. The voices and sounds do not really freak me out anymore.

Thank you all for your post, Albert, TheSeeker, and Gelfing!

I really appreciate it.

I have one more question for Albert.

How exactly do you do the countdown???

Thank you all again. Anyone else? I would greatly appreciate it. [:)]

Sincerely,

Celestial Sounds.

Nearly every time that i've reached the "floaty vibrating" trance state has come after a lapse in mental focus. Typically i'll be laying down, relaxed, and trying to focus on some falling sensations and imagery, but i get lost in a some daydream/dream and miss the onset of the vibrations. They startle me awake, but i've yet to maintain them for more than a minute or two. I'm wondering if that lapse of mental focus is necessary or if it's possible to hold a clear focused mind and still reach a decent body asleep state.

Albert... what do you think about the hemisync tapes? I recently bought Wave 1 of the Gateway Discovery series, but i haven't had much luck yet.

Hey nstkd8!

That lapse in focus and falling into dreams has proven to be a good thing for me. I look forward to it. When that happens I usually become aware that I am dreaming, because I know that I am in the middle of a practice session.

As long as when you become aware that you are dreaming and/or that you have lapsed in focus, you remain calm, you can just move into the real-time by getting up or rolling over. You have been projecting all this time and not knowing it!!!

For a long time I looked at projection as being harder than what it is- and I'm sure that I still do. Even so, I have experienced this...

The next time you are focusing on falling sensation and imagery, and loose focus and/or start dreaming, when you realize the fact, know that you have already projected!! The 'dwindle' in focus IS the separation!!

The dwindle in focus doesn't always happen to me, but when it does I am projected when I recognize that I let my focus slip- when I realize I am dreaming or day-dreaming. I presume the better we get; the more times we don't have a 'dwindle' in focus, and we just separate while still in full awareness. I also presume that we get better the more we practice.

Keep in mind I'm no pro or anything, but I have experienced. This method is still in the works as it is said, but these experiences are only about two weeks apart, so it seems to be working. Please let me know what comes of it when you do it- nstkd8 and everyone else. [:)] And thank you for mentioning this nstkd8, for I may not have recognized the importance of this reoccurence otherwise. [:D] And always know that I am more than willing to share my findings. Sharing an Experience and a Tip for Jeff Mash Post

Hey all!

I write to share about today's experience.
I went through my normal routine of rhythmic breathing- in 4, hold 2, out 4, hold 2, and relaxation. During relaxation I got some Strong imagery, like a remote camera somewhere moving around, and I'm getting the feed. I focused on this and they got better; or rather they changed as they normally do. I then fell into a dream, which was weird because I had a grass blower and some type of grinder type thing in my room and they started to catch on fire and disintegrated. Then I thought of the house being on fire and saw a totally different building burnt down, which alerted me.

I then realized my state and was having a kind of color collage on my screen. Since I started paying attention to my astral body the imagery stated to move away into the distance, and I found myself in a wide-open area or space, like a void, and the color collage seemed to be an area of concentrated color off to the side and away.

I decided to move in my astral body and started bringing my arms up. They felt all electric and tingly- more electric than tingly- maybe because I was bringing them through the floor, as I was lying on my stomach and the only way to bring my arms forward as I did was for them to pass through the floor.

I was overly careful of taking care not to ruin the experience by getting nervous or anything, which caused me to get nervous and ruin the experience. (Doh!)

It was fun though.

I am very proud of my experiences and my success. I am very proud of my accomplishments and my progress. Any positive reinforcement from you guys and gals is appreciated.

And for that tip for Jeff...
I remember reading somewhere that you said that you loose awareness on the way to projection and come back. And I also read that you experience the visions and the imagery. Maybe if you move when the imagery is strong and 3D-like you should be able to move in the astral body like this, instead of falling asleep first, or loosing awareness. Let me know how it works. And any tips for me are appreciated.

I hope I get some responses from you all.

Thank you all for being so kind.

Sincerely,

Sweet Celestial Sounds

Still Getting Used to Moving Post

I was up early in the morning because I went to be early from being up late the day before. I got sleepy early yesterday morning and decided to practice. I lay down and relaxed thinking to let my body get real heavy and lifeless- to really just let it go. It was a bit scary for sometimes it felt like I was just going to let my body fall since I am so used to having tension in it.

I finally relaxed well and just kept on relaxing. I was intent on relaxing until I projected. I fell into a dream after some light imagery came, and I came aware because I realized that my left arm was up in the air. I was like: Why is my arm in the air? I wasn't holding it up; it was just in the air. Then I realized what was going on.

I was lying on my back, and figured I'd turn over to my stomach in my astral body to further prevent re-coinciding. I had both arms in the air and kind of started spinning in the air. It felt like I was underwater, the feel of everything, and my arms were weightless. I managed to get my upper torso turned down, but I still caused myself to reenter by being to cautious and nervous I would end something.

KP advised me to just move. Just do it! I'll try that next time.

Take care,

Celestial Sounds.

Editing done: Corrected the mispelled word 'thinking' in 'moving' post, spacing, had experience in wrong other. 'Sharing' post happened first', corrected this.

re the lapse in focus, I have found exactly the same thing. Every time I experience vibrations, etc it is after I have been trying some technique or other, or else just taking a nap, but at some point my consciousness will drift and then I will sort of snap back into awareness and realize I got lost for a minute. Then everything starts. I think the reason for this is because the vibrations, etc are a delicate natural process that can't be forced to happen. The goal of the techniques (at least at first) is to maintain awareness while the projection reflex occurs, not to force the reflex. For us beginners, if we are trying too hard the reflex will never happen. It's only when we let go of our grip for a minute that it can happen. And then, hopefully, we snap back and become aware during the process.

nstkd8

Wow!!! I have to admit... i'm a little excited at the idea that i've BEEN projecting during the little lapses of consciousness, but i'm still left with a problem. When i realize that i've been drifting mentally, and i feel the vibrations, i seem to be in my body (or back in the body). Do i still have to be IN the dream in order to use the "getting up or rolling over" method? If not, how do i focus my attention so that my astral/realtime body moves and my physical body remains still? Another thing for sweet_celestial_sounds (cool name btw[:)]), you mentioned the sensation of limbs floating in the air without any effort to hold them up. I've experienced this... i assumed that it was a part of my astral body dissociating and that my awareness was now centered in the astral limb as opposed to the physical one, but i also have doubts. Do you believe that the experience is as it appears? Or is it just a quirky physiological/mental byproduct of remaining motionless for a while? (anyone's thoughts are appreciated... as always)

One last thing... this forum (in just the past 3 days that i've been a member) has been TREMENDOUSLY helpful! My deepest thanks to all who contribute their time and thoughts.

I believe it is as you say, your focus is on your astral as opposed to your physical.

This post stirred up a memory in me.  Everytime I tried to sleep after a long day at the beach, I would feel as if the waves were still crashing over me.  As if I were swaying back and forth like the motion of a hammock.

I wonder if this was me shifting out of myself? Anyone have the same experience? I thought it was common but my friends said they never felt that way.

EXCELLENT assessment Ash! Excellent!

Great question nstkd8. The best way to answer that question is, the next time this happens, consider yourself projected, and move. It seems you are making out a process that is more difficult than what it actually is. In the above two experiences, one time I was 'in' the dream, and the other it was like a daydream. Before I have had that 'dwindle' in awareness and had no imagery! I say just take for granted that you are projected, and go for the move. I am still having to work on this, because it sometimes can feel like we are back in the body, or seems too easy. I say give it a shot. I did... you can too!

If not, how do i focus my attention so that my astral/realtime body moves and my physical body remains still?

                             nstkd8

The way I'd say to focus is to just intend to be in the astral body. Or better yet... ACCEPT to be already in the astral body. In the experience up there when I was 'in' the dream, when I intended to be moving my astral body, and looked down toward my body thinking of it being the astral body, the dream/hypnagogic imagery seemed to move away. So just DO it! No special way to focus. Just focus on being in and moving your astral body, just like how you move in the physical body without taking your chair with you.

Another thing for sweet_celestial_sounds (cool name btw), you mentioned the sensation of limbs floating in the air without any effort to hold them up. (Thanks![;)] for the name compliment. [:D] Thanks for sharing that great thought! [:D])...

If the arms were floating... you were fully astral. You could just moved as normal, and you would be moving astrally. I can see how you can take that to mean you are in just that limb, and not the entire astral body. A limb... consider it the body. A finger... consider it the body. A toe... ... you get my drift. [;)]

I can understand your doubts... it seems so easy. And it does seem so easy. But it is! It is that easy! I have experienced it! It wasn't just a physiological/mental by-product of remaining motionless... These are not my first times projecting. And this is not the only way I have projected. I was in the astral body. It can be that easy...

The worst thing that can happen when experimenting with this is that you move physically. No biggie. Just a moment of relaxation to get back to where you where, and on as usual. But if it IS real... think of the possibilities. [:D]

And to TheSeeker...
Interesting. Every time at the start of meditation it feels like I am spinning to the side about 10 degrees, then back; over and over for the first five minutes. Sometimes it is to the left, and sometimes to the right. And when getting out of the pool I'd still feel like I was in.

Thank for sharing All! Please continue too!

yes the WBTB (go to sleep 5-6hours wakeup fully wash your face, stay awake for 30mins ie read/watch tv etc.. then drop back to sleep while doing meditation) works 55% of the time it's researched by the lucidity institute lucidity.com stephen laberge has a good faq written there about it also he wrote a book exploring the world of lucid dreaming good book to get.  Another thing I am working on which experienced astral projectors are doing or have done in the past is awareness exercises.  The 5-6hour techniques does work but your awareness is not that high so you can't do much except go beyond your backyard of your house and still have projection of the mind/dream images.  Now to avoid this you have to be self-observant aware, mysticweb.org has good courses that explain this, someone posted some of the material from the mysticweb.org website at http://www.geocities.com/ston_mkd/astral_projection.htm select self-observation.  If we eliminate the ego's and be in the now (ie tend not to be in the future/past but in the now and be alert in the now then when you go to sleep you will be in the now and no projection of the mind occurs.

Hello All!

I write this post to gather some techniques on getting TO the trance state, the vibrations, to the hypnagogic imagery, and any other states that are and may be conductive to OBE and astral projection.

First I share my major technique (that's considering that I am willing to it all in a particular session.)

I prime my mind by reading something on OBE and/or astral. Then I lie down and do a bit of energy work ala NEW. Then I'll meditate for a while by first breathing in 4, holding 2, exhaling 4, and then holding 2. Then I sit in trance for a while. I rarely ever miss these two steps. Then I relax in some way. Right now I tense and release and stretch my muscles, and I'm working on relaxing to the point that my body goes limp- really letting my body go- as that worked the two last times I entered a good trance. My body very obviously fell asleep or something quite like it and the imagery started. This is my basic trance induction routine.

(FYI: The last time I had some time in the astral body I focused on the imagery until they drew me in and then I started to move as if I was about to get up physical, and was moving in my astral body.)

Would you please share your methods and techniques for reaching the vibes, imagery, trance, etc? Another thing is I am usually drowsy when it works.

Thanks.

Celestial Sounds.
