I can get relaxed/focused easily (focus 10/12). I sometime feel vibrations and mostly have a lot of interesting visuals. I can keep my mind relaxed/focused for a few minutes without extraneous thought taking control.

I get to the point where i am not focused on my body, and the blackness seems to expand to 360 degrees. Once I am here my expectations usually get in the way. I start thinking "Now I should float out of my body" or "now i should see the astral."

This quickly makes me tense and sort of awaiting these phenomena instead of staying present. Is there a way to curb these expectations, or perhaps a way to quiet or control them?

Also, i think my astral sight is essentially blind. I got out of body the other night (or i was in "the void" or whatever) but then I thought "Now i need to open my eyes." This then totally killed the experience and focused my attention on my physical eyes. How can I fix my astral sight?

Once you get to that point just start noticing. There is no need to climb out of the body or anything. When you first start to Phase your expectations and excitement levels are really high. Everything is new to you and so different. The vibrations, hypnagog imagery, etc. After practicing for awhile you will be able to just relax and let it happen. Always keep your physical eyes closed, just know that your 3rd eye is always opened and will take over once your physical eyes relax. It is really easy "kill the experience". The key is to just passively observe what you see including all the signposts on the way there.
Good Luck and Safe Travels!  :-)

Try the affirmations "Vision now!"  "Clarity now!"  say them over in your head and hopefully vision should come. Do not try to open any eyes, as you may just open your physical eyes. (I've done this too)  Once you open your physical eyes, it draws your conciousness straight back to your physical body and ends the experience instantly.
Sounds like you are doing well. The more times you try, the more you get used to the sensations and therefore the less excited you will be as a result.

Practice, practice, practice.  :)

I normally only experience lack of sight if I'm too close to my body. If I keep moving away from my body I suddenly become able to see when I'm far enough away. Also if I hang around my room and just wait it out I usually get my sight.
