Voices calling my name

So I haven't read any theories on this yet, or none that I've found on these forums.  I read in another post about someone lying in bed and clearly hearing their name being said.  This used to happen to me pretty frequently (maybe twice a week).  I would just be lying awake in bed and sort of hear conversations in my imagination and suddenly I would clearly hear my name being called out as if the person was in the room.

So are they any thoughts to these phenomenon?  Is it other beings or your "higher" self?  Or merely something of the mind just seems incredibly physical and real?

I too, hear voices as I fall asleep.   Mostly they are completely random. Usually making some totally unexpected phrase - "mine's a Guinness", for instance.   This appears to me to be stuff that's simply floating around, but very occasionally there appears to be something rather more personal and directed in what is being said. This can be either disconcerting or quite pleasant depending on the comment.   Last night, out of the silence, I heard. "A little message of friendship for Diz (my name)."

Like you, I've really no idea at all, what these voices are.  I certainly hear them more frequently during the approach to an OBE.

I've just been visited by a friend, who tells me that he is always hearing his own name called.   We think  that this could be telepathic on occasions. And I am reminded of a time when out shopping,  I heard my name called.   I looked up to see a friend some distance away waiving at me.   She asked me what had made me look up, when I told her she said that she had only called my name in her head.

I feel that the more random stuff is probably flotsam on the collective unconscious.  But that the personal call, might well be from some part of our higher consciousness.
Therefore, identify yourself with me and become everything.

This is hard to tell. In a few cases it might be a real person trying to contact you, a 'guide' as they are called.

OR, far more usual imo, they will be a feature of your own imagination, which does tend to take audio/visual form when in the process of phasing/obe.

I would just note the voices with interest but try not to freak out or anything. They may vanish as you progress down the phasing/obe route, or they may reveal themselves at some point as actually being from a real individual who is attempting to contact you. Time will tell.
