Andali , did you happen to see yourself or anything while you felt as though you were floating above yourself?  It sounds to be like you had a spontaneous OBE.  The sleep deprivation technique tends to work wonders for going OBE even if you arent really trying.. I find that it works almost as much as when I AM trying to go OBE with it hehe.  Theres nothing to be scared of while going OBE.. I've done many times in many positions and in many ways and I've not been harmed yet. I've even done it while running fever from a sitting position and still was not harmed so if you are scared of OBEs at all , you shouldn't be.  The odd light feeling is definately familiar to me , it was a trigger that let me know paralysis of the body was about to set in if it hasnt already and thats when I start to see through my eyelids or feel vibrations... its exactly what it sounds like.. and odd light feeling.. hardly any other way to explain it. But anyway , sounds to me like you had an OBE whether you tried or not and you should start to write some things down so that you might be able to duplicate it in the future if you wish to do so ;) Good luck , have fun and remember to change your underwear daily!

Andali

Regarding loading an avatar, read here first.  This helped me enormously.

Actually, now that I recall, I did see me though my eyes were closed at the time, it was kind of like a shadow and I was seeing in my mind's eye not my actual eyes but yeah, I did see 'me'.  There was an odd floating feeling as I drifted up but why would I have one spontaneously if I had no intention to do so in the first place?

Someone please explain.

The other night, I was trying sleep deprevation though without a real intent to project.  I wasn't really meaning to but I went to bed late on Saturday night and accidentally woke up around 3:22 because my annoying little brother turned all the lights on so he could go to the toilet.  Soooo annoying cause his room is opposite mine.  Anyway, I woke up and for the life of me couldn't get back to sleep.

This was mostly because we had had the fireplace going and I could still smell smoke (I happen to have a fear of fire anywhere in or around my house because we live near a lot of bush area).  Anyway.  I was lying in bed freaking out and trying to get back to sleep while holding my nose.

I drifted while I was lying in an odd position and suddenly realized I was floating upwards above my bed.  It was an odd light feeling and immediate shock set in.  I started thinking 'back, back, back, body, body, body' and I was making downward frantic swimming motions.

I then tried to move my hand like I had read and felt the sheets of my bed under my fingers (oddly though I felt as if I was lying on my back).  I then returned to waking and was still lying in my odd position.

You're probably thinking, why the hell did you stop?  I don't know.  Someone's been telling me about things that could go wrong with an OBE (though they know nothing about it) and I've been a bit 'put off'.

Please tell me what happened.

P.S. Also can someone tell me how to load an avater for myself?
