Hi David,

A false awakening is a popular but usually unintentional way of getting out of body.  It happens to me all the time.

It happens when you're lucid dreaming and then "wake up".  Although you're still asleep, the lucid state of dreaming manufactures a dream of awakening.  Things about your room will usually be different.  The color of your bedspread will be white instead of green.  You'll find you have wallpaper that isn't there when you're awake...

Little reminders that you're still in a somewhat dreamstate...  although your awareness of the world around you is drastically different than when you dream.

It's in this state, that rolling out of bed, or the intention of floating or flying, usually results in an Out of Body experience...

Hope this helps.

cheers,

Stone
