Hi everyone,

This morning I had a couple "false awakenings" after projecting, which happens about 9 times out of 10 when I lucid dream or project.

Nearly every time I came out of an OBE or lucid dream I ended up having a "false awakening" instead of actually getting up.  In other words I would think I'd woken up, and do things normally (i.e. call my boyfriend to tell him about my OBE, eat breakfast) but in actuality was not awake at all.

Nowadays though, these false awakenings never fool me and I actually look forward to them because they are such an easy way of having another - what I think is an - OBE (or at least fully lucid dream).

I will get out of bed, and proceed to fly up the stairs and out the front door (And usually end up in somewhere completely different when I do this so its likely not RTZ at this point  ). I will be completely conscious at this time and fully in control (aside from the horrible teleporting skills). Clarity commands work well and my body is asleep on the bed about 50% of the time (same percentage as my normal OBEs - I only sometimes see my body sleeping when I get out).  Everything seems to be like a normal RTZ projection, grainy vision and difficult movements and all (until I get out my front door which seems to transport me to a higher astral plane for some reason  :?)

The reason I post this is because I often read that false awakenings are a type of lucid dream, but I can find it VERY difficult to distinguish between my lucid dreams and my projections at times because of the settings and the level of conscious thought... and I wonder if there is even really a difference at all.

Do you think that false awakenings and some lucid dreams are actually OBEs? I sure do!

Can't say I've ever really had a 'false awakening', sounds like fun though. Usually when I dream I am never in control, I just sit there and watch as my subconscious does all these crazy things.

I can only seem to project from a meditative state and that is much different than dreaming or false awakenings. So, I don't think I can be of much help there.  :-D

They're all kinds of projections.
A lucid dream and an astral projection differ only in the subjective nature of the dream- an 'astral projection' has a more collective aspect, but the state is the same, so to speak.
A false awakening can be an OBE that is usually short.  I used to get them when I had a 'real' job, I just got used to getting up at a certain time, and had my routine down pat (and thus did things automatically in the morning) I found myself trying to grab the bread and finding my hand went through the bag, which made me realize I was not really 'up', at least not my body.
Which brings me to this: I don't think a false awakening is necessarily the same as a lucid dream, because I have had many in which I wasn't lucid.  In fact, the realization that I wasn't really 'up' is what woke me up.
