I often get to the point of AP during dreams/waking but as I try to move out of my body "electricity" (felt as strong vibrations) shoots through "me" mind and there is a feeling of sickness too. I often wonder if the brain can be damaged in some way from doing this. Are there any reports of this happening?
Thanks.

Hey lost. What you mention might be kundalini phenomena. I had a pre mature kundalini event happen to me a while back. You may wanna read up on that. Robert Bruce has great information on this. I would get zaps of electricity in my brain and sometimes it was so intense I had to snap out of it. I've actually had a lot of experiences where I felt things that were way too much to even handle. But if you say there's an electrical feel to it that sounds (shockingly) hehe... similar to the kundalini stuff I went through. You'll find if somebody has never experienced it they won't know what to say or they make something up. It's incredibly real. I still don't understand it but you may want to research more about the subject. I've felt things that felt life threatening yet I'm still here.

But if I was in your shoes and I thought I was gonna have a stroke I would just keep going with the exit. Because death is just no big deal to me anymore. Anything beats this place. If it's too much to handle just nudge yourself out of the trance state and try again another time. I know what you are talking about and I would get the same thing.

Any obe book will tell you that such vibrations are very common when you're an obe beginner, that they aren't dangerous because they're only in your mind (or in one of your non-physical bodies), and that as you become an experienced obe-er they'll disappear. As in everything, there's a disclaimer that if you have a weak heart, or some mental affliction is better to consult your physician.

In the very beginning, I felt vibrations too, I got a little concerned, then they went away and never came back.

If you're worried about health consequences, start with lucid dreaming! There are no vibrations there.

Very true. I noticed the sensations when I first started were VERY strong. Now a days all I get is a falling sensation if that... I just pop out of body and there I am.

I would be more worried about lighting or spiders. Just being funny.

your mind is the one bringing on some of the sensations, and I don't think, it is in the business of harming itself, so its safe to say you will be ok, your job is to just stay aware during the process and head for the goal (exit).

If you don't have risk factors for Stroke (family history, strokes in the past, a lifestyle or diet that makes them a likeliehood), I haven't seen any indication that the sorts of consciousness-related activities practiced on this site will increase your risk.

We all go out of body during deep sleep so if it was going to give you a stroke , it would of done so long ago .  If one has high blood pressure and one of your methods stresses stresses you , then I guess it could .

As far as I'm concerned, you're "out of body" right this very second.
We don't have "bodies" in the sense of how we believe we do.  We're just consciousness.
