Feels like my heart been ripped through my mouth!

Sometimes when I reach the point that I feel I'm about phase, I get the strangest feeling. It feels as though my heart's just stopped and it been pulled up through my chest towards my mouth. Needless to say the shock of this jolts me back to full consciousness and I sit up with a start.
Anybody else experience this, or are there any ideas as to what's going on?? Thanks.

A heart center projection.  They are unpleasant and happen when you're starting out.  Once you get some experience they are not so strong and unpleasant.  Did I say unpleasant?

It is indeed unpleasant!
I've had spontaneous sp for quite sometime, but normally only after I've already slept a while, so yes, maybe this experience is to do with separation whilst initially conscious.
CFTraveller, have had this type of thing happen to you before then?

Many times.  I almost aborted the first time I had it.  Luckily I'm more stubborn than anything else, and I pushed on (or I should say pulled on the rope) until I heard 'pop' and all the pressure and sound went away, and I found myself floating in the room.

Oh, i get the same feeling in addition to my ears ringing like mad and my field of vision opening up while there's feeling as someone turning lights on in the room, ofc vibrations and tension/pressure in my body that's not really there... all this makes me go "this is it!" and "abort!" at the same time  Then it calms down a bit and i feel my heartbeat again only to try and push for it again
